I was craving grilled skewers, which they have a limited selection of, so I was initially disappointed. However my disappointment turned to delight as we started eating. We ordered the agedashi tofu, grilled beef short ribs, scallops wrapped in bacon, pork ribs, amaebi (sweet shrimp), aoebi (blue shrimp), hamachi lime roll, and the pink lady roll.
The sauce on the agedashi was very good, usually it's not even noticeable, but this was nice and flavorful. The grilled beef ribs were cut like Korean short ribs and very tender. Both the shrimp nigiris came with the shrimp head deep fried, and the rolls were fun and spicy with both having jalapeño.
The service was nice too our waitress was friendly and attentive. I will definitely make this one of my regular spots!
Outstanding customer service! The sushi is top of the line. But this story is a special one. I was flying out of Miami and I just wanted a good plate of sushi before I left. I was having trouble finding anywhere that was open on the strip. I walked into the Delano Hotel. As I saw there was a sushi restaurant inside. The ambience is set for a contemporary happening place for young entrepreneurs. It’s considered one of the hot little secrets in Miami. Hopefully this story will make it less of a secret!
I walked up to Chef Vicsai and the server on duty Kelly. And I asked “I am needing to leave for a flight and I just want a simple dish.”
Kelly responded “I’m so sorry sir but we are closed until 6pm.”
“I know but is there any way Chef can just whip
me up a quick Chirashi?” I replied.
“That’s not on the menu.” Kelly responded.
But then she gave the Chef a look, sort of saying “can we help him out?”
Chef said “I will make it for you. Kelly ring up a Sashimi [plate] with a side of Sushi Rice.”
I was so thrilled! Chef did not have to do that. Kelly didn’t have to do that! Everyone was still setting up the restaurant.
The hostess Patricia and Server Assistant Carlos were quite cordial and personable.
Everyone was so nice thank you for helping me get a beautiful meal fit for a VIP. I wasn’t even a patron at the hotel and they still treated me as if I was worth a million bucks.
Thank you for the outstanding customer service and the delectable sashimi.
We went to Umi for Omakase and the food was amazing. You can just taste how fresh the seafood was and the cocktails we had to go along with the meal were fabulous. The waitress, however, definitely didn't know what was on the Omakase plate, so she was really confusing when it came to telling us what we had on our plate to the point where we weren't even sure what was on the plate. But, I did appreciate how the waitstaff addressed an unruly customer sitting next to us.
