Simply amazing. There was a guitar player in there which set an awesome atmosphere and the people are great! Also, the food cannot get any better.
Wonderful Saturday evening dinner at The Malt Shop! We had our daughter's birthday dinner there! Staff was attentive and kind! Food was delicious! Parking on the street was totally easy!
I loved the live music for the atmosphere. The chicken sandwich was phenomenal, and the absolute best combo on their menu is fries with a chocolate malt.
It has been many years since I've been there. I had a craving for a REAL malted milk shake. The Malt Shop was a favorite when I lived in the neighborhood. It was just as great now as it was then.

Gabe, our server did an outstanding job. Introduced himself and was very attentive. Good and or course malts were excellent. I really like the small size, enough for just a taste. I had the coffee, my wife had the raspberry malt. Fantastic!
My family has been coming to The Malt Shop since 1973. I am so happy it’s still here and we are able to come together as a family. Today, we all dropped in over the holiday weekend and although extremely busy, the staff did everything they could to make sure we had a great lunch as a family. (We can be a bit much with a crew of 10) There was a small misunderstanding with the dessert, that was corrected. Thank you!
It has been 30 years since we were last here because of a move. What a delight to be back. The best frys ever. They still have the best malts and shakes. You can off menu custom order. Who does this anymore? Please try this place you won't regret it! Thank you Tray for the great food and service.

We had the urge to tackle a malt adventure and this one was good. We had a hard time getting to the place with all the surrounding road construction, but we prevailed!
I love the decor of the malt shop portion of this place. See my photos for the cool car booth. It is comfortable and it has a touch of nostalgia--especially with the (vintage-looking) jukebox.
We ordered two large malts. One was chocolate (I appreciate good and simple choco) and the other was raspberry. My wife is a bit more creative than me. ;) They have many different flavors for those looking for more creative options. Of course, we like the malt vs. shake option for sure.
We had an unplanned adventure as the server mixed my chocolate with raspberry. The mistake was actually enjoyable. They also did something (we are still trying to figure it out) with the raspberry malt. It was super-tangy and it had a bit of choco in it too.
The manager and owner noticed that we had gotten the wrong malts and they both immediatly jumped in quickly to correct the situation. I liked mine so I kept it and my wife got hers replaced. They were genuinely concerned that there was a mixup.
Mistakes happen and it is all about how they are handled. The owner/management handled this perfectly and they even comp'd our purchase because of the error. Kudos to them for offering stellar customer service!!! :)
The malts were a bit expensive at $10 each, but the environment, ownership, and malt quality (after the fix) makes this a five-star experience.
We were actually intrigued and it was a mini-adventure to try to figure out what they did to our malts. We still don't know for sure. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a malt adventure as you can create your own unique experience here.
We need to come back sometime to test out the food part of this place too.

The food was amazing. We had cheeseburgers and fries along with a malt that was so delicious. My only complaint is the smell of this location, it smelled like pine sol. Too bad, as the atmosphere is cozy, but was diminished by the smell, but still worth a 5 star..
The shakes are phenomenal, I got a hot fudge brownie shake and couldn’t recommend it more! They also have arguably some of the best cheese curds in the twin cities. Good service and fun vibe inside.
Absolutely love this place! Great milkshakes and you get the feel of a local joint that brings in a lot of the nearby neighbors. The wings are solid, the fries with melted cheese are insanely delicious and the shakes are something we dream about!
