This little place has consistently been excellent. They have some of the best burgers in town. What really distinguishes them however is service that is commendable Last night we had Thomas as our server and it was a treat. He knows the menu and genuinely makes the effort to be sure you enjoy yourself. He is professional and efficient and this coupled with excellent food makes for a wonderful evening. So why did I remove a star. The chairs are clearly some of the most uncomfortable chairs to be found in restaurants in Mobile. I do wish that at some point they reassess their furniture and put in chairs which you can sit in for more than 30 minutes without becoming uncomfortable. For those who have bad backs this place may not be your best bet. Overall however a clearly superior place with good food and good staff.
Great time in downtown Mobile last night 2/18/17. Mardi Gras parades then just enough time for dinner before the ZZ Top concert at the Saenger. With the large crowds of parade and concert goers we were fortunate to have our hostess Paulette give us options which we chose the first open table. Greg our server was very helpful knowing we were limited on time, his suggestion was ready in no time and we were able to enjoy our meal before concert doors opened. The Nachos were delicious. Thank you Paulette and Greg.
Some familiar and some original dishes. Nice take on seafood and properly prepared. I especially like the fish or shrimp soft tacos with the Island Slaw. The also like to put ingredients together you might not consider otherwise. Swamp Stew anyone?
An extensive selection of beers and daily specials makes this one of my comfort spots.
This review pertains to their downtown location since Zomato did not have it listed at the time of the original review. We ordered the blackened fish tacos and the ahi tuna plate. Both we absolutely delicious, expertly prepared, and attractively presented. We were mistakenly given onion rings as a side, but they were also amazing and a little bit spicy using the same batter used for the fried green tomatoes, another side we received.
The loaded potato salad was something I've never had before - potato salad that tastes like a loaded baked potato. Fantastic! There was also cheese grits that struck our curiosity. Yup, grits with cheese on top. Simple and delicious.
Prices were fairly reasonable, perhaps a touch on the high side. But at least what you get seems well worth it.
Good food, good atmosphere. Try the tacos or burgers. I have never had anything bad on there menu thou. I once accidentally ordered the fried burger, due to me misreading the menu, (I thought it was fried pickles, but in fact the whole burger patty was fried also) and it was even really good. They also have like 100 different beers on tap. Some "local" ones. (Fairhope, Avondale, Louisiana, ect)
I had the crab cakes topped with crawfish cream sauce and it was absolutely delicious! It had relatively large chunks of crab meat and the sauce was amazing. The atmosphere is great if you want to hang with friends and eat.
Shrimp tacos were awesome. Had collared greens as a side and they were not so great. No flavor. Waiter seemed to be rushing us as well. Probably because we weren't drinking alcohol.
Very good. We ate here last weekend and we're thrilled with the selection of beer on tap as well as the food. We both had tacos: pulled pork and jerk chicken. Food was tasty and something I'm sure I'll crave from time to time. Service was a little slow but nothing that would keep us from returning. Can't wait for them to open the new restaurant at Dog River ( a bit closer to home).
Love This Place!. Montego's has a great atmosphere and outstanding food. Some is spicy hot but they also cater to more tender palates like mine. I love the Saylor Salad, the pizzas, the ribs, and the fish tacos. The have delicious soups and gumbo as well. Never had a bad meal here and the beer selection is great. Try the satsuma martini when in season--they are amazing!
Great service. I had the BBQ sandwich. It was good and it was HUGE. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap.
The food is as good as it looks! It’s a cute little neighborhood bar but the stands on its own, very fresh large portion unique flavors and delicious! Service was amazing, I wish I could remember the waitresses name but she was fantastic and super super helpful! Definitely recommend this place the only thing I don’t recommend is the jerk chicken tacos, The chicken tasted good but the coleslaw was too sweet and it just did not work together.
Fun environment, excellent service, food was delicious! I had the mahi waffle fries and grits with a blue margarita it was very good! My husband had a huge cheeseburger with deep fried pickles and fries we also tried the calamari. Everything was wonderful.
Our server Chuck was great and the food was delicious! I had the calamari for me meal and I am stuffed. My brother got the Montego burger and says he would highly recommend it. My son got the kids chicken fingers and the the serving was enough for an adult at kids pricing. They had the Auburn game on and they just came back and whipped Texas A&M for a big one win. They also have a huge array of beer options on tap.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. First time getting steak nachos and was pleasantly surprised. Enough food that 4 people was able to share.
They do have reasonable priced daily specials so make sure to check out the chalkboard prior to ordering.
OH MY GOD! I can not say enough about this place. My wife and I went around 1pm so not many were there. The atmosphere, the waitress, the FOOD, the DRINKS! Amazing! It is a small place so it can fill up quickly but there will be no hesitation to come back.

If for some unforseen reason you haven't been here yet, stop and run here. It's honestly one of the best places in Mobile. It doesn't matter what you order, it's going to be fresh and fantastic! Great food, great drinks and great service. You won't regret this.
Always great food and great service. If you want a good burger, Montegos won't disappoint. We love this little hidden gem.
Indoor/outdoor seating available with Excellent menu selection! I enjoy coming for the tacos and waffle fries. Service is always good, the bartenders really know about the different types of beer! Highly recommend
