Had a fabulous meal. Our server, Kayla was excellent. Very knowledgeable and helpful. I eat gluten free and she helped me tremendously with choosing gluten free options. They don't have a separate gluten free menu but Kayla marked up my menu so there were no questions as to what was safe for me to order.

Best dining in New haven! So goood, from tapas plates to desert desserts, filet mignon button mushrooms the list goes on! But the best is the bourbon spice rack the best drink I have ever had!
Good selection of tapas, a nice drink menu and promptish service. Gets crowded on weekdays, so it's good to plan ahead. Great location in downtown New Haven.
This place is really good. I usually don't dine tapas but Barcelona changed my mind. I do hope to come here more often even though I'm not a tapas fan!
Plate-licking good. That's really all you need to know. Actually we didn't have to lick the plates because the manager came over to say hello and then brought us some bread to wipe up the plates, which we left clean.
context: I've been on platonic and romantic dates here several times.
pros: fancier and romantic atmosphere, choices, service, social hour deals
cons: price, noise
Good if perhaps on the expensive side. Great place for a date or a fun time, though.
All I can say about Barcelona isWOW! The atmosphere, the food, the service it's an incredible place to go! The best mojoitos
Good wine and tapas at a reasonable price. I tried this location twice on a recent trip to New Haven, and I must say that I was impressed with the quality of the food. What really stood out was the enjoyment of the wine. The bartenders understand what they serve, and are very happy to help you discover their selection. For this reason, I would strongly suggest sitting at the bar rather than a table.
My Fav """. As a working chef, I appreciate all that goes into this restaurant group. I usually go to the location in West Hartford...order a bunch of tapas...and always leave satisfied. The white sangria is somewhat sweet and tart and refreshing. I enjoy the Calamari Ala Plancha, an item I request, its sauteed, not deep fried...grilled steak paillard is cooked perfectly and very fresh tasting, and the beans and mushrooms with feta is great as well. They offer fresh fruit and cheeses for dessert which is a nice touch. Tried many things here and all is good.

Exquisite Representation of Spanish Cuisine. By Daniel Gamito
I have a hard time putting to words what Spanish cuisine means to me. Spanish culture is at the epicenter of my creativity; Spain is my soul.
So for a restaurant to capture the beautiful simplicity of traditional Spanish food while presenting this food in a modern, trendy way means that the Chef and Staff of Barcelona New Haven have created and contained a culinary miracle.
With traditional tapas like "pan con tomate" or "quesos frescos" with your choice of several beautiful imported cheeses from almost every region of Spain, this illustrious menu is not bogged down with pretentious spin-offs. Barcelona stays true to the traditional flavor profiles of Spanish cuisine, and I can honestly say that this is one of the only Spanish restaurants that I have been to in the entire country that does this. The waitstaff is very friendly, extremely attentive, and seem to be fairly familiar with the menu and wine list even though most of them are American. If you are a foodie or a gourmet, this is a great opportunity to taste some of the finest ingredients prepared with passion and artful simplicity.
I give this restaurant my only 9/10 so far. Beautifully furnished, beautiful food, and prices that aren't as ridiculously European as you might think...This is as close to gourmet Spanish that I have found so far in the United States. One of my favorite dining experiences of all time. Who would have thought this little university town could harbor such a culinary gem...
Here is a suggestion for a wonderful pairing that will make any romantic date at Barcelona New Haven a very unique and sensual one!
Order the "quesos frescos" tapa and request the Garrotxa (pronounced Gah-roach-ah), the Manchego, and the Idiazabal (pronounced Eee-dee-ah-za-bal) cheeses. Order a bottle of the specially imported Txakolina (pronounced Cha-coal-ee-na) which is actually quite inexpensive (about $22 a bottle and sometimes the restaurant has happy days that are half-off on all bottles) .
This wine is an incredibly unique "sparkling" white from the Basque region of Spain. It is made from a VERY unusual grape called Ondarrabi Zuri, and is incredibly flavorful, crisp, and refreshing as hell. The magic of this wine, however, comes out when it is paired with the cheeses I mentioned before. With your hot date, slowly cut pieces off the cheese wedges. Together, sample one cheese at a time, chewing slowly to gently release the amazing flavors of these beautiful aged cheeses. Once the flavors have really hit your palate, take a sip of the wine and let the rest of the cheese dissolve on your tongue. Look at your date in the eyes. The next three to five seconds will be as close to an orgasmic experience that you will get while your clothes are still on. The wine somehow lifts the flavor from the palate, transforms them into something deeper and wickedly smooth, and then bubbles away down your throat and into your libido. This is me, a Spaniard, guaranteeing that this is a truly unique, religiously sensual experience. Just try not to go crazy on each other in the restaurant. I might get yelled at.
Enjoy your life, try this restaurant, and ¡viva España!

The food was exquisite. Great service. Good prices. Order the chorizo. And even the bathroom is a clean comfortable experience
Came here with the family on my birthday. The staff was amazing and the food was phenomenal. Definitely worth the price. Location is pretty central. Not a lot of places to park on the street so may have to park somewhere else and walk over but that’s for most places within the downtown New Haven area.
The ambiance is really nice at Barcelona. We were in New Haven celebrating the new year with our family. Barcelona was a great choice. Food was really tasty and drinks were great. Our server was very friendly and even gave us a free dish to try out of their popular items. Pretty awesome.
Eating here is an experience. The employees- incredible! Everyone is so familiar with the menu and our waitress literally brought us one of her favorites on the house because she knew we’d love it. Speaking of which, the food was amazing and authentic. As someone whose spent months in Barcelona, I’m very impressed. The manager was very attentive and bubbly, she went to each table several times to chat and make sure everyone was happy. To top it all off, great atmosphere to eat in. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could!
This place is OK. Not quite fabulous which is what I would expect for the price and hype (snagging a reservation for Restaurant Week was quite the coup). The sweet potatoes and tapas generally were great, veggie paella was a little bland.
Everything I had here was delicious! Ordered bacon wrapped dates, scallops, shishito peppers, and mussels for tapas and they were all cooked to perfection. Also got a creamy goat cheese and cheesecake for dessert; both delicious.
I would suggest making a reservation if you plan to come here for a table at dinnertime but I didn't mind sitting at the bar so I just showed up and sat down. They were really busy so the servers themselves were a bit slow, but the food came out of the kitchen very quickly so it didn't really matter too much that servers were slower.
