Mister Gregory, I gave you a "like" because you remind me of my last 3 boyfriends: not up to snuff, but dear God I wish it would work for me. The Croque sandwich that is advertised as blow torched was just that but too much so, carving five years off my life with a big dose of carcinogens. You can't play like that for a 8.50$ sandwich and no side! I'm coming back. But please don't let this coquette diner down!
A Nice Surprise. Went here about two weeks ago with a friend who frequents the joint. I'm a Louisiana native, but can't say I've eaten at a lot of French-style bistros.
I really enjoyed this place. It's close yet far enough from the Quarter to still be a bit of a secret, so it's never super busy and crawling with tourist types (love y'all, but sometimes I just want to be away). The staff seemed really cool and really open to explaining the menu to new customers like myself.
I had the Boeuf Croque Sandwich and it was amazing. I should have asked what cheese was on top, but it was gone before I really thought about it too much. Their pain perdue tastes just like mine, so I enjoyed it. Also, the decor is simplistic and refreshing.
This is the first place I'm reviewing on Urbanspoon, and for good reason. They just opened up, and I don't want people to pass them by. So don't. Just eat here. The prices are very reasonable and it makes for a great lunch.
A wonderful change. I found Mister Gregory's because it is across from the Arch of the Louis Armstrong Park. It was a delightful surprise. The place is airy and inviting. The staff was really friendly (greeted many of the people walking in by name -- who else does this?). But a place is nothing unless the food is worth eating. Mister Gregory's food was great! I had the Bombay sandwich which is a curried chicken salad sandwich with raisins and pumpkin seeds. Terrific! I also had a cup of the French Press Coffee -- incredibly fresh, great tasting coffee. The prices were amazingly low ($7). I wanted to try the desserts, but the sandwich was so big that I never made it to dessert. Next time!
Simply Amazing. Every sandwich on the menu was under $8 bucks making this by far the best deal in the entire touristy french quarter. Authentic french street food in the "French" quarter. I thought I would never see the day. I love po boys but get sick of the gross po boy bread. But, at this place the bread is real french baguette. I had a fantastic turkey and havarti sandwich. I also tried a hot sandwich. The hot sandwich was juicy chicken breast, bacon, goat cheese and chopped sage. It was the best sandwich I have ever had. Covered in white sauce and melted cheese. Just like being in Paris. I love this cafe. The day I was there it was totally packed but it only took a few minutes to get our food. The staff were super friendly - almost too friendly for New Orleans where most sandwich shop staff kinda growl at you. The room is also gorgeous. Not sure which interior design firm created this, there are colorful tables and chairs and vintage french posters and old bicycles hanging from the ceiling. Super cute like a place in a magazine. This is a must visit cafe.
We got a chance to meet and talk to Mr. Gregory during our tour. We called him Mr G. This is a warm ,nice, and knowledgeable man who is the heart of New Orleans. His food was fantastic ,the conversation was fantastic. I 100% think that everyone who visits New Orleans and the French Quarter should stop at Mr Gregory's
We stopped in before a tour in the area. We were pleasantly surprised to find a breakfast po' boy that was delicious! Friendly service, ample space, worth your time to stop in!
Super nice guy that worked there. I ordered an avocado toast because there is a limited menu. I wasn't too thrilled when it was placed in front of me. That is until I took the first bite. OMG! It had so much flavor and was one of the best things I've ever tasted!
I was there to have breakfast before I caught a walking tour. We were offered a free refill of coffee before we left. I thought that was so nice!
Do NOT miss this!! The Boil is incredible! Fresh and delicious. Mister Gregory himself includes you in the entire process, explaining where the critters come from and how we help them by eating them (totally worked for me)! The food is delicious and the host lovable!! Worth every penny and all the memory!
Great company, great host in Mr Gregory as well as his helpers Bill and Bill. You are treated like family the moment you arrive. Glass of bubbles, a little history and mounds of shrimp with great sides followed by the BEST chicory coffee I had during my stay in New Orleans. Miss DiDi entertained us with a medley of showtunes. Just wonderful!
Mister Gregory's is a chic little breakfast/lunch spot in the Quarter. When I need a change of pace from my usual lunch places, I stop by here. The tomato bisque is a favorite. Just had breakfast for lunch there today; the waffles are divine. Baked eggs and a side of fresh veggies rounded out my brunch. All the coffees are excellent.
Such an awesome experience! We took our 11 and 9 year olds and it was so neat to meet Chef Gregory and learn all about how he cooks and where his food comes from!
Great old French quarter atmosphere, awesome food, entertainment and relative information to creole life and gulf seafood sustainabilty. Thank you Mr. Gregory and your staff for a great evening!
We arrived a few minutes early and got some drinks at the bar a few doors down. At 7:30 promptly the door opened and we were welcomed upstairs where we were led outside on the balcony to meet Mister Gregory and staff. He introduced everyone and gave some personal information and then talked at length about the meal. Very nice.
Once back inside the guests were seated at a communal table where crab appetizers were waiting. Soft drinks were offered. Then the shrimp boil was brought in and put out on the table. Yum! Fantastic, fresh and well prepared.
Dessert and coffee (with an offered shot of praline liquor) followed.
Recommended for an entertaining night out.
Incredible place! Best desserts ever, if you like French baked goods check it out.
The gentleman that works the later shift is superb, however the art kids in the morning are rude, uneducated regarding the menu, and failures of the culinary world.
I went in one evening for sweets and had incredible service and food from the baker working. He had just pulled out some incredible pastries and was quick to offer them to me, was very pleasant and inspired me to come back. The food was absolutely perfect.
The next morning I went for breakfast and had less than mediocre service. The two art kids working had no idea what my menu order consisted of or how to make it, were too busy advertising an upcoming art show to pull my toast from the oven before it burned and then served it to me black. While I was trying to scrape of part of the char, one was staring at me with a very offended expression instead of offering me a fresh batch, or even apologizing.
