Best neighborhood bar I have ever stepped foot in. I make it a point to rent a house near this great establishment everytime I visit NOLA. The service is always great, even on busy nights. The food is some of the best bar food I've ever had. The bacon wrapped hot dogs; fried shrimp; and queso dip are my favorites! Every night I go out on the town, I finish up here.
This is, bar none, the best bar in the city of New Orleans. Food - off the charts good. Drinks - put any beer garden to shame and the Dark & Stormy is the best around (they have ginger beer on tap). The people watching is unbelievable (I spent time with a woman who is in deep, committed love with her bearded dragon and a Rosie the Riviter look-a-like that makes chocolate (but doesn't sell it?!?). BUT...the best part is Mr. Roy Markie. A great man and fixture in the neighborhood. The service is unmatched. Do not miss this bar!
My mates and I never really venture too far outside our immediate neighbourhood in the lower French Quarter … that said, the three of us decided to explore the Bywater and stop by one of our ol’ faves — Markey’s Bar — and it DID NOT disappoint. Chapeau to bartenders Jordan and Kat for great service and even better smiles …
