This local grocery store is better than any chain. What I love most about the food co-op is that they have fresh prepared vegetarian and vegan food. You can always count on the co-op to have prepared food with a homemade feel and a variety of healthy and locally sourced food. A good way to support local is to patronizing the co-op.
Also love the staff - sweetest people.

Four stars for hanging in there Not much selection and produce is often old and tired. Good enough fruit sweetened selections for sweets. Very nice people.
A nice co-op with lots of sustainable and Earth friendly choices. They have a good selection of beers, too. The people that work there are very friendly.
The New Orleans Food Co-Op has locally grown produce the store is stocked with a wide variety of food products and household goods that are more gentle on the environment than regular popular brands. One of my favorite items is artisanal sourdough bread by Susan Spicer. see new things there every time I shop there.
Prices high but very cool place n love home grown food!!
Was almost scared away from going here due to some of the reviews but so glad I went! They have a fantastic bulk section with great selection and while its definitely pricey, I enjoyed the experience of shopping here. They may have replaced some of the staff workers because every employee I came across was very friendly. The sink is certainly not dirty. I personally don't find a 10% discount on overpriced produce appealing enough to become a member but that may not be the case for everyone. Overall, I will be going back for specific items (and the bulk section) but likely won't be coming here for my primary grocery shopping.
