We had reservations at another restaurant in Manhattan that appeared to be a good choice for our 30th anniversary dinner. We were not impressed upon sight and resorted to our cell phones for a new pick. Called Davios and got an immediate reservation. Excellent first impression. We enjoyed an amazing meal with a patient waiter who didn't rush us and explained the menu to us. They had a huge selection of food. We saw a couple get engaged and the staff helped them celebrate and got us all to clap for them when they left. So glad we found this place!!
Both the Food & the Service were on point ! Will go back on another day to check out the lunch menu & happy hour.
Just steps from Grand Central, an upscale, subterranean restaurant exudes class and hospitality in a setting very much in touch with its old New York roots. Offering daily, weekly, and seasonal specials, Davio’s is constantly evolving to bring both value and joy to its clientele.

Have been a fan of Davio's since their original site opened in Boston's Newberry Street ages ago, and have followed them from town to town. Rarely have the chance to visit the NYC location, and anticipated our dinner there as a special treat. As we visited on a weeknight and the eve of a major holiday, we were not surprised to find the dining room only about half full. Our server did not appear for some minutes, giving us time to wonder if the Davio's experience had undergone a sea change. However, once he appeared, all went well--and the food proved as memorable as ever. Signature popovers were hot and tasty. Heirloom tomatoes were nicely paired with balsamic and a subtle Gorgonzola crumble, and the enormous meatball appetizer drew praise. The scallops were nicely done, and the short ribs were rich and ample. The tradition continues.
I was recently performing an art show and hosting a gallery in the Lexington Ave neighborhood near Midtown and my friends recommended to me this amazing and authentic Northern Italian restaurant called Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse. Eating at Davios was a orgasmic and gastronomic culinary experience. I had ordered steak, which is flavorful in your mouth and the grilled octopus will amaze you and the spaghetti will surprise you. I got to sit with my colleagues, my boss, and our client as we all devoured a ton of delicious farm fresh salads and our main entrees that were professionally cooked by world class chefs. We had an extraordinary variety of options for entrees and desserts. The food was so delicious and savory. Afterwards you can go for a walk and tour the lively street culture with all of the vendors and high-end boutiques outside. It was a memorable experience that really has shaped my perspective of Manhattan to be the number one culinary and cultural destination on the east coast. I gave it a 5 star rating because it was very expensive and some of waitresses were very friendly and chatty, we spent over 100 dollars or more per person to eat their food options and get drinks. It was truly a lively and foodie adventure.
Alright: I admit that when I reserved a table at Davio’s, I knew it was an Italian Steakhouse but thought it was another spot that I saw previously, wandering around...Well, that was a happy mistake: Davio’s is a great spot if you want a delicious steak in a nice setting. The service, although a bit slow was good and at least I could see my food...I also appreciated the noise level that allowed us to have a nice conversation; well, until the table next to us came...I mean you just needed one loud guy to spoil a bit the whole thing: it drives me crazy!
Our first meal out in New York (all the way from Australia). This place really set the bench mark high. Excellent food, cosy and really friendly wait staff. We will definitely come back to Davio's when we visit New York in the future.
Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse first opened on Newbury Street in Boston back in 1985. Since then, they have expanded to cities across the U.S. including 3 additional locations in MA – Chestnut Hill, Foxborough, and Lynnfield – Manhattan, Philadelphia and Atlanta. . At Davio’s everything is made by hand from the best ingredients. They Serve everything from aged steaks to simple-yet-unique pasta creations. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. And I had the chance to eat there last night for the first time!
Vitello Tonnato, Fillet Mignon... Yum. First class service, first class sommelier, first class food. Thank you for making our visit special.
Lovely restaurant and extremely kind staff. Arrived on a Sunday night around 7pm and there was no wait. The salmon was charred perfectly... Ugh I can taste it as I write this. It tasted like it was made with care and heart.
The drinks will surprise you, they're stronger than they look!
Highly recommend!
Very low key relaxing bar and setting. Our bartender was very accommodating. Happy hour brought in many people for drinks and complimentary Philly cheese steak spring rolls which were quite tasty. Calamari was standard fare yet satisfying. The goat cheese truffle puffs were the star dish of our appetizers - unique and rich.
All of our drinks were well made with some interesting brand selections not found in most places.
The bartender said we were the very first customers of his to ever ask what the cotton candy flavor of the day was so he had to go inquire. We ordered it for fun and were glad we did. Lightly spun and the cotton like sugar melts right in your mouth.
My friend Sheba took me here for my birthday. I have to emphasize that the service here is great! We started with popovers and they brought out 2 servings of the Philly Cheesesteak rolls which were amazing! We then had the meatballs with a side of pasta and marinara. Delightful! Ordered the calamari--perfectly battered.
They surprised me (and apparently my friend as well) with a birthday cake, which really just made my day :-).
Kudos to the hosts, servers, somm, and chef for such great service! Will be dining here again soon to try everything else out!
This was a delightful surprise... The staff was very attentive to my gluten-free needs, asking exactly the right type and amount of questions. The recommendations were excellent. The service was prompt. I would definitely return and request the same waitress (Dona D).
Duly impressed. The homemade pasta was perfectly toothsome and flavorful. The butter lettuce wedge salad was perfectly balanced and again, so flavorful. The popover with whipped butter was heavenly. I can't decide what was best as everything exceeded expectations! Definitely adding this to my favorites list.
Made reservations and came here for my anniversary. When seated, there was a card already placed on the table from the Davio's team wishing us happiness. The food here is very delicious. The pork was very tender and flavorful.

My hubby and me just enjoyed our lovely friends wedding reception at this place. We loved it! Servers and food were great. 100% recommend this restaurant.
Went there drinks with colleagues. We had spring rolls sampler which was okay. The drinks were good. The staff was friendly, service was prompt. The only thing I didn’t like was the open kitchen- something got burned and the ventilation was not doing a good job - the smell went to the dining area.
While my wife was visiting NYC with me, she found Davio's Italian Steakhouse. We had a wonderful experience.
Pictured here is: 1) the burrata; 2) the warm spinach salad with roasted peppers, portobello and goat cheese, and 3) spring roll sampler.
I had a very rare filet with a side on broccoli rabe. The steak was prepared perfectly - not too charred on the outside (just brown), warm and red on the inside, and no salt (my request often ignored at other restaurants).
Note about broccoli rabe it's not broccoli. It's more bitter and is more like turnip greens.
We shared a desert and I had my first taste of grappa. The grappa tasted like brandy and had a rich grape flavor and bouquet.
This one is a keeper.
A pleasant place with nice ambiance. The service was good, perhaps a bit exaggerated. The expectations were high, perhaps too high, since the food did not meet our expectations. Prices are pretty high. My 8oz steak costed $47 sides not included. The Cosmo cocktail afforded $17.
