I like their Italian food Indian talent food I like the Italian pizza which is very tasty. I also like Italian pasta speciality white sauce Italian pasta with very tasty.
Bang for Buck in Hell's Kitchen. Not your typical Italian meal. You won't find spaghetti & meatballs on the menu, but you'll be glad that you don't. I never get lasagna at a restaurant in fear of a small portion, but I was shocked at Mercato. Large portion + Delicious cream/tomato sauce = Wow. Great atmosphere, but a tad on the noisy side when I went around dinnertime. Italian waiter made the experience seem even more legitimate.
Great little hidden treasure, food is fantastic, staff are friendly & quick service. We really enjoyed our meal here.
Had the house special, fettuchini with red veal sauce. Perfect portion size. Only negative was they do serve butter with their bread!

I have had dinner twice in two days I love this restaurant it is authentic with simple food well thought out well cooked and charmingly served. If you want starched linen and flunkey waiters pampering to your every whim probably look elsewhere but if you want to relax chat and enjoy your time alone or with friends this is the place!
Cozy and quite! Only bummer, no pizza.....
Great food, friendly staff, reasonable price. We were four friends looking for a reasonable priced Italian restaurant for lunch around midtown. The "shake" button on the urbanspoon app led us to this nice restaurant. All four of us were happy with the food and the staff. Great atmosphere, real Italians (they were actually speaking Italian with one of the other guests) serving real Italian food, what can you ask for more? Oh, that the price be reasonable - and it was!
I will definitely go back when I am around.
Mercato - Real Italian. I took some out-of-country guests to Mercato. I'd read positive reviews and thought it was worth a shot. It was! Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food.
Prices were reasonable, too.
I'll be back.
Mercato is Classic Italian at its Best!. Authentic food with fresh ingredients and casual, antique atmosphere make for an old-world feel. Something for everyone's taste. From the appetizers, to the entrees, and then the desserts, the menu flows together like a perfect Italian story.
Everything is extremely affordable. The average appetizer is about $8. Pasta dishes are between $10- $12, and entrees are between $15-18. Wide selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle.
The staff is very knowledgeable, and are eager to please.
The perfect place for a romantic date or for a meal with friends or family.
What a quaint restaurant in the Garment District. We had a lunch reservation prior to a Broadway matinee.
The interior has a very old European vibe. Service was very professional and attentive. I did think it was odd that they wouldn't serve us the bread until our fourth guest arrived.
Al the food was delicious and ingredients fresh. The serving sizes were appropriate for the price point. Four of us ate for $125 before tip, 4 entrees, 1 wine and 1 coffee.
We arrived at our reservation time and were qseated at a table by the front window. It was fun watching all the people pass by. We were the first in the restaurant at lunch time but as we sat there were several large parties arrived.
There was a plaque on the wall stating it was Michelin rated.
Mercator is an easy walk to the Broadway theaters and worth a visit.
Amazing! I was there a bit early and caught the staff meeting prepping for dinner. The staff speaking Italian, laughing and having fun was beautiful to hear. I had the Burrata for appetizer, Spinach Ricotta Ravioli, & Affogato for desert. All were excellent & the prices reasonable. Reminded me of my Sicilian grandmother's home on Sunday when I was a child. I can't wait to go back and try more!
My husband and I wanted to find a nice restaurant to get dinner before a show that was still reasonably priced. This restaurant is an undiscovered gem. The inside is quite small, but that adds to the intimate and classy atmosphere. All servers were kind and very attentive. Food was amazing. It was the perfect place to have dinner our last night in New York!
My husband and I stopped in before a concert at Madison square garden. It was quaint! The wine was delicious and the food was good.
Started with the Polpette con Crostini. Amazing ragu and the meatballs were like my Nona’s.
My daughter had the Gnocchi Al Ragu and they melted in your mouth!
I had the Trennette Al Pesto. Trennette is definitely made fresh and the balance with the basil. Garlic, EVOO and almonds left my palette wishing I could eat the entire dish but we had to leave room for dessert.
Daughter had the chocolate mousse special and of course I went more traditional with the Pana Cotta All'aceto Balsamico.
If you want excellent Italian food with a cozy old world feel, come here. Make reservations and you won’t be sorry!!!!
The staff was extremely nice and accommodating to my egg allergy. Food was great and everybody loved their drinks too
Quite dine-in with good atmosphere. Got the gnocchi, the polpette, and the dessert special - all were delicious. Great service and great food, don't sleep on this place.
A cute little Italian restaurant with lovely food , I walked for ages in Manhattan to find a decent Italian restaurant and this one did not disappoint .. Will definitely come here again on my next visit to NYC
Very good! All waiters speak Italian which adds to the atmosphere! Great wine too 🍷. They make spaghetti noodles from scratch so they taste super good! They even had candles and turned out the lights, it was super awesome! Mercato is a totally radical place to eat! 🤤🍷. So radical dude!
Probably closer to a 4.5 but rounding up to a 5. We came here for dinner before a Broadway show and enjoyed our apps, entrees and dessert! Everyone we interacted with was very friendly. A place always gets bonus points from me for some free bread and this one came with a lentil olive oil dip!
