I keep a running list of restaurant that I want to try on my phone and Bar Primi has been on there for a long time. I'm not sure why it took us so long to finally stop by considering, I pass it quite often on especially when riding the bus home. The Noho eatery from Andrew Carmellini, located on the corner of the Bowery and Joey Ramone Place gets its name from ‘primi piatti,’ which translates to the "pasta course". Occupying two floors, the restaurant has a rustic and homey vibe. There is a full bar on the ground level dining room with ample seating throughout. We were seated on the second story which was definitely preferable due to the slightly more generous spacing.

Simply cannot say enough about this spot. Primarily known for its pasta dishes, the appetizers, cocktails, and other main courses were delicious. The services was great and for a unique Italian experience, I highly recommend.

Bar tender really knows his stuff. Classics, modern convictions and even some free form experimentation. All great. We were drinking and snacking and having a great old time. Ante pesto salad was outstanding the proscuito lovely (hard to mess up really when you think about it) and the ravioli stuffed with short rib meat in butter sauce absolutely outstanding. Great place!

Dear Food Diary: I’ve been dreaming about that Fiori di Carfiosi from Bar Primi for a few weeks now… that perfect balance of al dente pasta and bacon. Another discovery was  Follow Frog Farm peaches. Where have they been all my life? Bar Primi is very casual, friendly Italian spot by Chef Andrew Carmellini from Locanda Verde (one of my favorite places for brunch and unforgettable trufflepalooza every year) and Lafayette. Fellow food loving bloggers  shellyinreallife, FoodJournies and Vonatron brought our big appetites and were ready to “ mangiare “.   R icotta Bruschetta Was the perfect starter. The buttery grilled bread had a nice creamy layer of ricotta. The sharp smooth finish brought a little tartness that was balanced beautifully by the sweet Sardinian honey and the freshness of the figs. There was a delicate sprinkle of  rosemary that helped bring the savory and sweet parts together. This would of made a good dessert for those without a sweet tooth as well. I

Atmosphere & service 10/10. Portions very small very a pretty penny. Expect about $100 plus a person. Pasta dishes are good not excellent. Loved the clam pasta and agnolotti with vodka sauce. Beet appetizer was not my taste at all, probably least favorite thing I’ve had in a while. Was expecting earthy with fresh yogurt as described except was way off. Drinks and bartender were excellent. Decent Italian! 4 people and we all split 4 apps, 5 dinners and no dessert, everyone had 2 cocktails each.

I came here with a friend on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was not very crowded but the decor, vibe, and service were lovely. The server ignored the growing ridiculous trend of restaurants telling guests the guests that kitchen prefers guests to order all food at once which made me VERY happy. The food isn’t the best Italian I’ve ever had but it’s certainly well above average. We also shared a bottle of wine. I would go back and recommend.

Have eaten at the bar and table on multiple occasions and received great service at both. Prefer eating at the bar as a personal preference. The pasta with lamb is amazing as are the stuffed meatball app. Have yet to have a bad dish on multiple visits. Highly recommend.

Bar Primi's cuisine was a treat. The food and drinks were delicious, the service was good, and the atmosphere was lively. We started with espresso martini's, which were enjoyable, but when it came to cocktails, the real stand out was the fellini. It was a delicious amalgam of bitter and sweet; perfect for the fall. My favorite part of our meal was the clams pasta (we did gluten free). It was a delicious and unique sauce, with just the right amount of spice to take it over the top. The ricotta crostino was delicious for an appetizer, too. The chicory salad was just okay, nothing special. The only qualms I have with Bar Primi were the noise level (it was VERY loud), and the server's request to put in our entire order at once. This new custom of NYC restaurants is off-putting to me; encouraging you to put the entire order in so they can turn the table over as soon as possible. The busboys also circled like vultures and very frequently checked our table to see if we were done; it felt pressuring rather than relaxing. This is NO fault on them as I am sure it is a management directive. As a fellow waitress, I encourage management to rethink these directives with staff as it diminishes what should be a very positive, relaxed dining experience.

Service was great, the lobster squid ink pasta was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. The wine was also a really good pairing recommendation. My only complaint is, wished the hostess was a bit more discreet about checking if we were bringing a cake for our friends birthday. We had called earlier to ask if there's a cake fee, and - yes there was so we did not bring it. Clearly none of us were holding a cake, but the hostess asked our group infront of the birthday girl if we had a cake. :(

Bar Primi is a nice casual Italian spot that gets the job done when you’re craving some pastas. The ambiance both inside and outside are perfect - lots of low light, moody decor, and great vibes from the bar. There is a wide selection of appetizers and entrees to choose from and reasonably priced as well. I went with the crowd favorites of a ricotta crostini and the bucatini which were both well seasoned and flavored. Lots of seating so shouldn’t be too hard to get a table here.

Extremely delicious food! Didn’t have reservations on a Saturday evening… I know bold! But we got two seats at the bar. It was great that we were seated where the drinks were being made. Management was very hospitable. Our server was decent but she made a great drink! We ordered mock-tails so good! Their lamb spaghetti was perfectly al dente. The burrata was so fresh! Definitely recommend, fun for a group. Intimate for a date night :) recommend making reservations but it’s not the end all of you don’t.

Charming Italian restaurant in East Village, with a focus on pasta. Would recommend trying the bucatini and squid ink campanelle. Both are very tasty and filling. The latter is a bit spicy. For starters, would recommend getting the stuffed meatballs. You won't have to wait too long to get it, and you also get a serving of bread with olive oil (I believe its complimentary and not specific to the meatball order). To finish, try the tiramisu. The place is quite big and there is a 2nd floor seating area. The lighting is a bit on the darker side, with candles providing some illumination. It would be good to get a reservation, but you may find a seat if you come in before 6:30pm especially on a weekend.

Good Italian restaurant. The food portion are a little small but good enough for one person. The apps are really good. I recommend their octopus and meatballs 👌🏽. They also have good cocktails and beer selection.
