Simply put: amazing. The staff is extremely hospitable. The food is delicious. They drinks are strong but not overwhelming. I could eat the biscuits all day, every day.
The fried chicken was moist but not remotely oily. The Mac and cheese was wonderful. We didn’t leave a crumb on any plate even though we could barely breathe we were so full. Can’t wait to go back and taste the rest of the menu
The food was amazing. Great atmosphere, and the staff was excellent. I will definitely recommend this place
Amazing amazing brunch. The biscuits are incredible and you can’t go wrong with your order. They don’t have espresso though so get some first if you’re hungover. Their drip is good but won’t resurrect you. All I ever want is good bacon, bread, and maybe a salad to pretend I’m not getting heart disease and boy did they deliver.
Finally got round to trying this out for brunch, and it didn't disappoint. Such a nice interior, good ambience too. The biscuits we had with Jam and was so well done. My chicken sandwich was huge! But very well cooked, wasn't dry at all, and you can add your own amount of pickles/jalepenos etc. Give it a try!
The Restaurant Week brunch is $29 per person and SO WORTH IT. You get biscuits for the table, an appetizer, mac n cheese and watermelon for the table, a main dish and a dessert. So. much. food. The deviled eggs for the appetizer might be the actual best thing I had. Who knew? Highly recommend. The dill and potato skin crisp thing on top really round them out. And the biscuits... oh my goodness, they transport me right back to the south but add a twist that I've never in my 22 years of living in Alabama had. If you don't go for restaurant week, you still MUST get these.
Our main dishes were the chicken and waffles and the biscuits and gravy because, duh, more biscuits and more carbs. The chicken was cooked perfectly - not too overly crispy, not at all greasy, and a thick piece of chicken, exactly how I like it.
The banana pudding wasn't my favorite (Alabama still wins there) but it was still solidly good. The key lime pie dessert was really tart but actually really good.
The presentation for every single dish was beautiful. I love a place that truly cares about putting out great dishes that look just as good before eating them.
Only reason this isn't a five star rating is because the hostesses were quite rude when my boyfriend and I said we didn't want to sit at the table by the dumpster outside (that had tons of flies all over it).
Yum yum yum! Been waiting to come here for months and finally did for dinner ! Beautiful, small, cozy, warm, and organic feel. Almost as if you were not in ny. The bar tender/waiter/bussboy/hostess was AMAZING ! cordial, friendly, and ran the restaurant on his own like a boss! The food! Wow! So delicious, beautifully presented, and tastefully done. Left my tummy feeling very yummy. Cannot wait to come and have fried chicken for brunch. And plenty of dishes for vegetarian or vegan fellas! Highly recommend it!
Food was delicious, came out in a decent amount of time, wait staff is friendly and helpful at making suggestions. There was plenty of food, enough for leftovers to take home. The deviled eggs are the cutest, no idea how they make them so pink. The mac and cheese was the only reason I came after seeing it all over Instagram for years and I finally was able to make my way down to try it for myself.
With great southern style food and a charming environment it's hard not to like root and bone.
When you walk in, it feels like you've left nyc.
The place gives off a rustic feel and has the food to match...with a twist.
We got the shrimp and grits and the short rib meatloaf. Both great. They both had a little extra beyond what you'd typically expect.
The shrimp and grits had more levels to it. The meatloaf was actually pull apart short rib meat.
Drinks were solid too.
Love love love this place. Came here for brunch. It’s a cute restaurant with AMAZING FRIED CHICKEN. We ordered a whole chicken (off the menu) to be shared for the whole table. Their biscuit is to die for. It was soft, moist, and a bit crisp on the crust. Just the perfect balance. Would definitely come back to get a southern food fix!
The food was great! Mushrooms were the best and most that I've ever had as a side. The Mac and cheese was the biggest let down. I was expecting soul food and a homemade (from scratch style) mac and cheese. Chicken was tasty. Service was lovely. I would definitely go back.
Such a fun brunch spot! Great drinks, best fried chicken I have ever had and incredible biscuits. If I could eat here every day I would. Highly recommend making a reservation.
Lovely place for a date or just to hang out with a couple of friends. Their decor were on point and the way food is served are totally Instagram worth. Drinks were quite good and bartender can adjust to your liking. Staff there were excellent! The food were delicious but the chicken could have been a bit more tender. My fiance was not satisfied with the southern biscuits being southern enough, he said it was more northern style, but he still enjoyed it. Would definitely go back if we have the opportunity. FYI we went during restaurant week so the portion is different from the regular menus.
