Had tried a few varieties of puffs in India.
When in New York I was recommended this place by a friend.
I was amazed by the quality and taste the puffs had. I couldn't carry sweets to India but i took sweetness along with me.
Sweet memories.
I think this place has been on my list either when I got the Not For Tourist’s NYC guide or a Zagat guide, or I sat at this nice place in Soho for desserts which listed other great New York City’s bites. //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js. Finally, the Sunday before last, after an early dinner that wrapped up before 6, we walked to Beard Papa’s to try their cream puffs. They were out of most of their options, but thankfully had the classic and the chocolate. We got one of each, and the molten chocolate cake.

Beard Papa’s has perfected the art of mass-producing fabulous cream puffs without comprising on taste and quality. The Beard Papa’s empire began in Osaka, Japan in 1999 and has since expanded to over fifteen countries worldwide.
All their cooking is done right on the premises. They bake up crisp choux pastry shells, which have a filling of your choice, just as you order them.
They use all natural ingredients and no preservatives. That’s is why – the best time to eat a Beard Papa’s cream puff is the minute you get it.
They generally offer fillings like vanilla, chocolate and green tea and throw in special flavors of the day or month.
They have now added different options to the kinds of shells and fillings you can have. They have mini- puffs, éclairs, puff panniers and so on.
Closest thing to true French cream puffs! maybe even better?q. I have a major sweet tooth and grew up eating French cream puffs and eclairs from a bakery that made pâte à choux the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, many of those small places closed down and trying to get a good pastry from a supermarket bakery has been hopeless.
Several years ago, when I read about Beard Papa (what a weird name) I rushed to try it and have not ever once been disappointed.
They keep the puffs separate from the filling and only fill them when you order them, so the choux pastry does not get soggy.
The fillings are delicious - the perfect consistency and not over-sweet.
Highly recommend.
Sublime. These are the best cream puffs I've ever had, and as they're my favoritre dessert, I've had many. The shell is just the right balance of chewy and flaky, and the filling is a mixture of custard and pastry cream with a velvety texture and a pure vanilla perfection (though I also love the other flavors).
Absolutely delicious creampuffs made with obviously fresh ingredients. The staff is always pleasantly sweet and the prices are strikingly low for such incredible tastes.
GREAT ODIN’S RAVEN!!! Good God these creampuffs are ridiculously delicious I thought to myself as I bit into my first one. On the night we shuffled into Beard Papa’s Cream Puffs not too long ago to try out what many other people had told us about these little morsels of creamgasm we were not disappointed. The outer crust was light, flaky, crispy, and filled with a cool creamy custard, but not cloyingly over sweet. It just danced over my taste buds in delight. We tried the Dulce de Leche and the Original cream puffs. The regular original was a creamy delight, albeit a little messy as it was so filled that you end up creaming all over yourself. Wait – what? Nothing like a little cream on your face and chest, eh? The Dulce de Leche just took me by surprise. A combo of sweet vanilla cream and caramel goodness. The flavor just smacks you in the face and forces you to submit to it’s desires. Yeah, to me these are damn good cream puffs! Looking around at the other customers it seemed as if ev
Now, for those of you that haven't tried Bearded Papa's yet, it should be on your list of must go to places, it is simply too good to pass up! The Cream Puff here is actually unique: most places will display their's with the cream already inside which, has a tendency to soak the puff shell. Here, they actually fill the Cream Puff to order, so you will never have a problem with a sog
hese cute choux packed with deliciousness! After we tried it, we had to get several of them! From all the flavors they propose, the vanilla custard remains my favorite! Even the chocolate one does not measure up for me.
So, here we are again! The staff greeted us in Japanese and freshly stuffed the Chou with the vanilla custard.
The end result, however, is one serious cream puff. The puff itself is perfectly-puffed and toasted pate a choux, and the filling is a sinfully creamy vanilla cream with little tiny vanilla seeds in it. Since it’s made to order, it also has absolutely no sogginess (although I strongly suspect these things have a 30 minute shelf life…).
I saw this store advertised on Groupon and made sure to visit when I was in the area. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed. The store and logo are adorable, and while 3.50 isn't cheap for a cream puff, these things are delicious and HUGE. There is also a $1 discount on 6 and a $3 discount if you purchase a dozen puffs. I can't wait to visit again and try the rest of the flavors as well as the beverages.
I guess in Japan, cream puffs are made by old bearded men. If you have never had one, you should definitely try one. Its really good.
I like the original and the double chocolate.
The staffs are normally friendly. Service with a smile.
They recently renovated and made the front smaller. I hate it. There's less seating and overall just feels like customer seating is a second thought.
Is 1 cream puff worth $3.50 before tax? The answer is no. A donut is +/- $1.50. So value wise it's just meh...
But it's delicious and you'll keep coming back for more.

Excellent cream puffs. The shell is perfectly crisp and the cream tasty and not overly sweet. Maybe it's just me, but I would have liked less cream as a small part of my cream puff was soggy and a lot of the cream was left in the package. I also wished the store didn't smell so much like wipped eggs.
Loved Beard Papa's since I lived in San Francisco. Over the years, I've noticed the cream puffs had gotten smaller (unless it's just this small in NYC but I would think they'd keep it consistent). They're still freakin delicious though. The wait at the location wasn't very long but then again I was the only chrome m customer here when I ordered. Clean establishment. They were out of the green tea cream puffs unfortunately and I was looking forward to having those. Got a chocolate one, assorted mini ones, and this blueberry cheesecake one for the boyfriend (he loved it). I would go back to get a chance at that green tea one.
Always excited when I have a reason to stop in!
Freshly filled cream puffs to order, I'm a huge fan of the green tea, but wouldn't say no to any of them.
Best eaten shortly after purchase, just like most cream filled pastry it is prone to getting a soggy bottom the longer they wait.
I like their macaroons
They have flavours of them like pistachio, strawberry, blue berry , chocolate and dark chocolate
My favorite was the chocolate and dark chocolate because it tasted less artificial and more creamy !!!!
Small cafe area inside (and out?) So can eat in or take out. Good rewards program and would love to be back. Seems popular with locals.
Always loved this place for years. The store's interior and exterior may have changed but the treats remain just as good or better.
Omg!!! It is perfectly delicious I got the vanilla filling and it's mildly sweet not over the top.I look forward to trying other flavors.
The young lady was cordial and service was fast.
I wish the puff had been crispier. Can't deny that matcha cream puff tastes good though. However, to be honest, Bibble and Sip on Timesquare offers better cream puffs.
