I’m from Los Angeles and I always have a hard time finding an authentic Thai restaurant or any Asian restaurants here in Charleston until my boyfriend’s best friend recommended me to this place! I highly recommend Lanna’s!!!! They have the best papaya salad and pad see-ew!!!!

I wanted to wait after a few visits to write a review just to see how consistent their Thai food is. I must say, it's amazing.. Every single time. I've tried almost all the Thai entrees and none have failed to impress. The Thai dishes have a strong but light flavor without having one certain overpowering taste.
Spicy note: I always went with 4. I usually eat spicy so at this level it's somewhat strong but not overpowering the dishes flavors. If you do not like spicy I wouldn't go above a 3.
Thai entrees: I encourage people to dine and share entrees. That way you enjoy flavors from a variety of dishes rather than getting full and stuck to one entree flavor. You won't regret doing this. Portions are large even at lunch time.
Soups: Go with the tom yum soup. Lunch size serves 2 comfortably, dinner is more like a soup pot lol
Considering the Thai selection in the Charleston area, I have to say this goes fist to fist with the best if not better. Let's not forget that the prices are almost half than the other Thai restaurants even at dinner time. Can't beat that, win win situation.
Had a great time here. Tried papaya salad, pho and pad see ew. Everything was delicious and the service was lovely too. The interior isn't super upscale but it feels relaxed, clean and airy.
Really good! Pho is great, and if you ask for "Thai hot", they give it to you. Service is not bad. They have fried wonton appetizers that are stuffed with a cream cheese and avocado mixture - really good!
First, the service was good not great, but friendly. The beef noodle soup a bit sweeter than most places, but not enough to really notice. Bo bun hue is very good and pretty spicy. Kind of like your grandma's cooking if you were from South Asia.
As a half thai/vietnamese american from california with abundant amounts of thai and vietnamese establishments everywhere I can say this place rocks. The prices are high so this isnt a place you visit everyday. But the pho is amazing. Lower your prices lanna and I'll be here everyday! Hugs and kisses
I did not take notice of this place for years. I am in the know NOW and will be one of my regulars. The Pad Thai w/ shrimp is delicious. The purple Taro tea is sweet as well. Thank you!
My husband and I were in the mood for Thai food so we decided to try Lanna Thai Cuisine. At first when we pulled up, the place looked closed but then we drove around and saw someone inside. They motioned for us to call and we realized it was takeout only. We decided to order anyways. We ordered Grilled Shrimp Papaya Salad, Pad Thai with vegetables and Noodle Salad with pork. We really enjoyed the papaya salad, it was the right amount of tangy, crunchy and a hint of sweetness. It was bursting with flavor. The Pad Thai was great as well, I only wish I had ordered it a little spicy. The noodle salad was okay, I wish the side dressing had some chilies like it traditionally does and the pork itself was a little dry and chewy. Overall, we had a really good experience with takeout at Lanna Thai Cuisine and received fast and prompt service.
We went as a group on a Friday night. The food was amazing. We ordered red curry , green curry, massaman curry and the dishes were made to our spice level preference. The curries were made without oyster sauce and were very flavorful. The quantity was good amount and the prices reasonable. We also ordered bubble teas and they were good too. The service was slow as there was only one server. The place was clean. We enjoyed our dinner.
I’ve visited this establishment twice so far. I’ve always carried out my food, so I cannot rate the atmosphere. There is a drive-through window. However, my food was always hot, fresh, and made to order. I customize my orders because I eat a lot of the ingredients and they always get it right so the accuracy is on point.

It’s a good simple Thai food restaurant… I would stick to the Curries… especially the red curry would be a must try. If you like spicy food then stick to number 4 of spicy level. Do order extra portion of rice or noodles if you want. As along the curry the rice portion is small. I tried the Pho but it was ok. Overall a ok experience
Love this restaurant! Must try the Thai iced coffee, and basil noodles with shrimp (can’t remember official name), and the pho is also very good. Do not judge the restaurant from the outside or location. The staff is great and it’s very clean inside.
Looking for the best chicken fried rice in North Charleston? Look no further. Their Thai tea deserves an honorable mention too but warning: it’s sweet! Only one wait staff for about 10 tables on a Sunday evening but food still came within 25mins. Their Tom-Kha soup seemed a little watered down but everything else was great
Lanna Thai is THE best Thai food in the Charleston area! Their food is consistently delicious and staff are very friendly and helpful!
Okay, so I’ll be the first to admit I was a little concerned when I saw the location, it does look very dated on the outside/inside and there weren’t any other customers. I decided to just take a leap of faith and so glad I did! The reviews are spot on.
I ordered the meatball pho and it was delicious! The broth was spot on and the flavor was phenomenal.
The deep fried spring rolls were good, the sauce was okay. About the same as most places.
The only critical opinion I have is on the basil spring rolls - they are HUGE. I know what you’re thinking...that’s a good thing. I thought the same thing too. Unfortunately, it makes them very difficult to eat without them falling apart. Being so large, they couldn’t really be rolled tightly enough to stay together. Having said that, the flavor of the rolls and the peanut sauce was AMAZING.
This was a great find while I’m in town and if you’re looking for some yummy Vietnamese - this is definitely a winner and you won’t be disappointed!
Really expensive but some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Really popular lunch choice for me and my coworkers.
