Came here yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday and really enjoyed myself. I'm not the biggest fan of soul food restaurants, but this place is right! I had the fried catfish dinner, and it was seasoned great. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good, and I'm not a gravy person. But this gravy was perfect. My 10 month old seemed to really enjoy his string beans, along with the rice and gravy and potatoes, as well as the cornbread muffins. And my peach lemonade was good. Mariah was our server, and she was the absolute best. Super attentive, accommodating and took really good care of our large party. I definitely recommend this place and can't wait to come back. But wear your flats or make sure someone drops you off by the because parking was a bit of a challenge in my opinion. Great food, great staff, CLEAN establishment (bathrooms included). Can't go wrong.
I came on a Sunday & it was buffet style.. I was so thankful that there were servers on the buffet line which eliminated all my fears of traditional buffets.. The food was fresh & delicious.. I mean everything! Well worth the price of $29.95/person.. Mac & cheese, greens, cabbage, green beans, red beans, peas, rice, yams, fish, baked & fried chicken, etc.. It was really reminiscent of Sunday dinner at Moms or Grandmas house.. Even the ambiance with live jazz.. It was great! Be sure to come with an empty stomach to make sure u get your fill! We only could eat 1 plate! Lol..
Definitely surprised everything was delicious on my plate everything had flavor only thing was the yams needed to be a little sweeter and more butter. Mac n cheese was perfect enough salt n cheese greens and cornbread dressing were 🔥 The peach cobbler dessert was my only issue it had way to much nutmeg. But I will definitely be back just will skip the peach cobbler next time worth my drive from the valley!
I really enjoyed the green beans; it was my first time trying them and they did not disappoint! Yum!
Soul food like granny or your Aunty would make like greens, yams, red beans ans rice with sauteed cabbage and cornbread muffin AND OXTAILS now you see where Im going with this... Southern Cafe NEVER DISAPPOINTS...please note you will have to wait but its worth it.
Excellent Soul Food. Tastes almost as good as Mommas. No parking lot, limited street parking. On Sunday dinner buffet starts at 1pm. Arrive early to get best seat or your left waiting in a long line for others to finish. Abundant food supply and variety of choices for all levels of what you might be craving. Decent staff, owner very approachable and kind.
