This is the most wonderful little restaurant!!! The food is amazing!! All ingredients are fresh and prepared fresh. This is not fast food but it is awesome food!!! It is a little place but soooo worth the wait!
Delicious food, friendly service, pretty view!. This is a GREAT place for breakfast! The pancakes and biscuit were light and flavorful, the sausage was very high quality, the potatoes were delicious, and the dark roast coffee was strong and fresh. Great service, too, and a cute spot, right next to the beach. We shall definitely go back next time we are in Oceanside!
These twin brother chef/owners and their crew rock the Oceanside breakfast scene. Wait. No, they kick the Coast's breakfast scene to a whole new level. Killer grub. Fast friendly service and a pleasurable atmosphere - the view is exceptional -- Ocean front! We drove 2 hours just to eat here and it's easily worth the drive. We will highly recommend and be back.
Best food on the coast. There are multiple places to eat in the Oceanside and Netarts area (and I've eaten at all of them more than once). This is hands down the best. Breakfasts are fresh, hearty and big. My wife and I usually split one in 2 and share. If they are doing the bay shrimp omelet, go for that, but it's all good. For lunch, their "Chowder" contains no clams (has a lot of bay shrimp) but is better than any clam chowder in the vicinity, including the famous Pelican Chowder in Pacific City. Right out your window is the parking for the Oceanside beach, and while you nosh you can watch the surfers as they play in the waves.
Adorable little cafe. We had the crab cakes, the shrimp and crab melt, the chicken bacon melt. The apple Chantilly pesto was delicious and the sourdough bread had the most amazing cooked cheesey crust on it. Such great flavor in everything we had. I highly recommend this cute little cafe when in Oceanside!
Delicious and fresh tasting seafood! We called 20 minutes ahead on a Sunday morning to get a table for 8 and were able to be seated immediately when we arrived. Parking was difficult to find so keep that in mind if visiting on a weekend. Food took a bit to come out since it was a busy morning but was very good!
Nice friendly establishment that was one of the few restaurants open in the area.
We had to wait 30 minutes for the breakfast menu to close out before they started serving lunch, but they communicated that very well I won't hold it against them.
We had the crab cakes, steamer clams, and grilled rock bass. The steamer clams were a nice portion, but still had some sand in it. However there was a nice mix of onion and tomato broth plus buttered toast that it was quite satisfying.
The crab cakes were a bit small for my taste and it felt like it could have used some more crabs. It was also a bit dense.
The grilled rock bass was great - they ran out of rice but the side salad sub was not a bad choice.
Overall, a solid place in the area!
Came here after getting soaked in the rain on the beach. Very nice place. Small, but pleasant. The two ladies who were the waitresses were very nice and helpful. Chowder was great! A pretty substantial bowl of soup with toast too for only $10! They also will give you butter if you ask for it.
We are never disappointed at the Blue Agate. The food is fresh and delicious. The seafood chowder and fish and chips are always good. The staff is friendly. Being able to look out at the ocean is an added benefit.
My son and I stopped in after a morning exploring the coast. The Blue Agate was full, but the service was still fast and friendly! We shared a cup of delicious clam chowder. I had the crab tacos and my son had the fish and chips. Both were amazing!
The Blue Agate Cafe is wonderful. Their menu is full of delicious offerings, including fish tacos! They have a back patio that is dog friendly. I cannot wait to return!
The Blue Agate Cafe is amazing. Looking at it you would never expect the food to be this good.
Every member of our party of 4 loved the food. All of us had a bowl of the chowder which was the best I've ever had. I had the chicken bacon melt which was delicious. The other people had fish and chips and fish tacos.
The atmosphere was good with lots of outdoor seating which we used as the weather was nice, but the inside is a little small and there is only a single bathroom for everyone. And parking can be an issue, but these things are minor.
I will definitely return when in that area.
There aren't a lot of options when it comes to dining in Oceanside, but I would recommend the Blue Agate Café for breakfast or lunch even if there were. Especially after a morning of agate hunting or kite flying on the beach below. This cute little café is decorated with historic photos of Oceanside and the surrounding area, and has a great view of the beach and Maxwell Point. It is a little small inside (dare I say cozy?), so they may not be able to accommodate a large group, but they do have outdoor seating if the weather is cooperating.
They keep a small lunch menu with coastal favorites like burgers & fries and fish & chips. The staff are friendly and sat us at a table even though we showed up 15 minutes before closing. A word of warning, they do close early (around 3 or 4 most days) so don't expect to grab a BLT after watching the sunset. But that is part of the charm of a sleepy little seaside community like Oceanside.
Impressive little place in Oceanside. Multiple vegetarian options and a private dog friendly patio in the back.
