We love Yamato! Our daughter got the kids chicken teriyaki. It was so much food! The curry rice was delightful. We got a couple of sushi rolls too. Everything was so tasty and good!
Yamato might look small or underwhelming from the outside but you go inside and you're impressed with how great the decor and atmosphere is, as well as the size inside. I love their menu, it's just the same like five or ten dishes you always see at these places. I legit had a hard time deciding what I wanted because the options were all so good! Bottom line, food is delicious, I just had a hard time getting a waiter over whenever we needed something but when they did come they were very polite!
The staff is really attentive. They can't read your mind but they come pretty close. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and was able to recommend food specific to our taste. The sushi here definitely stands out.
Me and my family love this place! The sushi is so good and high quality and their salmon is so good too. I think everything we’ve ordered from here we love.
The quality and price are well worth this gem of a place and I recommend anyone considering a Japanese restaurant to eat here. Oishiiiii 🤤

Great food and atmosphere- reminded us of when we lived in Japan. The unagi-don was over twice the size that I get in most places. Across the street from my mom’s work so easy to frequent in the future. My daughter was very happy to get some food items that weren’t on the standard menu. (Kappa maki) is one of her favorite things to eat.
Incredible! The fish tasted great for being in Utah. The staff was actually Japanese and all very friendly; the atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely be coming back.
The takoyaki tasted like it was made fresh instead of frozen! The BBQ roll had a delicious smoky flavor. I’ve never had anything like it!! My hats off to the chefs at this restaurant.

Loved this place! Authentic Japanese food, complete with chopsticks (you can ask for a fork if you need to). We had the dragon sushi roll (pictured here with the flames) and sweet and sour chicken. Many entrees come with a small salad and miso soup. There are tables to sit cross-legged and tables with chairs too.
It was nice and quiet with no stupid TVs so we had a nice dinner and a real conversation with friends.
You can go all out and get a lot of dishes or you can get just one entree and still have plenty of food (that's what I did - and even took leftovers home!).
We look forward to trying more things on the menu!
