Quick Summary
The food is pretty good here, but the service and hostesses can be a hit or miss. Great view of the pool, water, and golf course if you get a table outside. Try to use Opentable for reservations if you want to save some time.
Food- 4.5 stars
We had the warm breakfast buffet the first day and had lunch the second day. At lunch we ordered the Angus burger, seasoned fries, BLT sandwich, and the hummus plate. Everything was pretty good and solid. Breakfast had an omelet station, a waffle bar, tons of pastries, and a deli and fruit station. Slightly inflated pricing as it's in the hotel, but very convenient if you're staying on the property

This is a bit of a mix. The omelet station server was excellent. The individual waiters and servers were friendly and accommodating. However, a few of the hostesses seemed aloof and it took a while to get our food for lunch.

Pretty good food, service is a hit or miss, and great views. It's worth it if you want to stay on the property
I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet at here. It’s like $32 per person. You have all breakfast choices to choose from. From oatmeal & fruit to pancake & waffle to bacon & sausage to bagel & cream cheese & yogurt, you can get anything you want. They also have a egg making station, their omelette is so yummy! I highly recommend that. Their bakery station is nice too. I love their croissants and mini muffins.
What a wonderful breakfast buffet at the JW Marriott in Palm Desert. Martha was our server and quite professional and kind. The ambiance and wide array of breakfast items was superb. The omelet station was fantastic and the staff, all of them, were so kind and attentive.
Oh and the coffee is so so good. Yes, three cups and Java and fired up for the day. So enjoyable and first class service, food, staff and ambiance.

From the moment we walked in, to the time we left everything was magnificent. Our servers Richard and Isidro were knowledgeable about the food and their recommendations were perfect. Whether you stay at the resort or not you must dine at Rovkwood Grill.
Extremely courteous server and hostess. Immediately offered water. Drinks ordered and swiftly taken. We each ordered the filet steak. One person consumed the buffet. They were both excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection.
Booked at the last minute. Used valet parking ($11). Was seated on time at 8pm. Very polite hostess and waitress. Offered water immediately. Drinks order taken quickly. One of us had the filet steak. The other had the buffet. Both were first class. Steak cooked exactly as requested. Huge baked potato. Buffet included sushi, cold snow crab legs, huge shrimp, soup, salad, pizza, veggies, prime rib of beef, pork, fish, couscous etc. Finished off with desert for 2 from the buffet and double espresso coffee. Cannot fault anything to do with the hotel, ambience or meal. Would (will) visit again when back in the country. Total bill $130.
Great service! We came right when it opened in the afternoon, and Muditha was our server. She was absolutely amazing and so was the rest of the staff. We got to sit outside by the water,and enjoyed our food and drink. Highly recommend.
Isidro was my excellent waiter for dinner, Gierrmo was my excellent waiter for breakfast.
My N.Y. strip was perfectly medium well, tender, juicy. I ate here 4 days in a row. We were treated very well and everyone on staff was nice.
Impeccable Service! Our server informed us that Rockwood Grill prides itself on their farm to table concept. I totally belive her too because the wedge salad (large sharable portions) was the best I've ever had. Everything tasted so fresh.
I had the Scallops and they were cooked to perfection sitting on top of a bed of sweet pea risotto. It was so delicious and creamy.
My husband had the rotisserie chicken and it was juicy and tender. It was accompanied by some cabbage and beans that reminded me of my great grandmother's recipe.
We will definitely be dining here again
