Loved staying here in our toy hauler-delicious coffee, breakfast was wonderful & dinner was great-The views are breathtaking & the owner & staff make you feel right at home
Lovely park, clean and quiet. Staff is friendly. The sheep put on a great show. Definitely would recommend and would stay here again
This is a wonderful place. The owner is awesome, super helpful and nice. The cabins are great, location is excellent and the restaurant is the best we had in my entire 2 weeks trip to Alaska, even though we went to 5 stars restaurants. Food is excellent and everyone is super nice. We also took a helicopter ride with the owner to a glacier and landed there next to a amazing blue lake. This was the highlight of my trip. Don’t miss this place, it is superb.
We loved it here! A super comfortable bed and hot shower, which can’t be beat after a day of driving. If that’s not enough, the views are SPECTACULAR!!! We were lucky not to have a cloud in the sky (not sure if this is normal). We spent the night before the restaurant was officially open but they had a great room service set up where you order online and they run it over to you at the time you’ve specificed. The food arrived hot and the beer was cold. We had the salmon, burger, and triple berry cobbler— all of which were well prepared and one of our best meals during the first half of our Alaska trip. Overall Sheep Mountain Lodge was a perfect and pleasant surprise!
What a wonderfully charming spot! We only stopped for one night as we were passing through, but I would love to come back and spend more time. The mountain backdrop is gorgeous and you truly feel surrounded by nature. Walking trails give you a chance to stretch the legs, the cabins are up to date and spacious, and the grounds are wonderful (there’s even a hot tub!) Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Definitely plan a stop here!
Our stay was wonderful, people were friendly, the place was clean and updated, trails wonderful, the weather must have played a role. This is a great affordable getaway, and we will visit again!
The food room service was an added surprise bonus: the food itself was hit or miss, but all in all worth the money, especially considering how far from all the supplies the location is.
We especially enjoyed Bruschetta (as well as all produce and bread) and home style potatoes, that were really dank!
The friendliest staff, the nicest views, the tastiest food and the best helicopter ride to land on a glacier in all of Alaska! We were warmly received by the staff and the Mark, the owner, our cabin was luxuriously large and very clean. The food at the restaurant is gourmet quality and the ride to the glacier felt intimate and you can tell Mark really enjoys flying guest and explaining what we're seeing and nothing there ever felt rushed. Highly recommended.
What a great experience! Amazing views of the glacier and a great pilot full of info and answered all our questions. They even made sure our one year old was comfortable the hole time. Quite the experience to be able to land and walk around on a glacier!
We ate here after hiking the Matanuska Glacier. We were greeted immediately and informed of a short wait. We could get on their wifi and wait in the greenhouse for a few minutes. Once we were seated we were charmed the small and cozy interior. We had a table with a nice view of the mountain. Service and fast and friendly. The server was helpful in choosing a local beer. We had a short wait for the food but the server apologized for the wait and offered a free dessert. Dinner was delicious. I had halibut with a white sauce and my husband had halibut and chips. Mine was seasoned perfectly and was by far the best meal I had on this trip. I highly recommend this restaurant along the Glenn Highway.
We started our Alaska vacation by going to Sheep Mountain Lodge and taking the helicopter tour of the Matanuska Glacier with Marc (owner of lodge). It was amazing and Marc was an awesome pilot and tour guide. We also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant after the flight and it was tasty and a perfect beginning to two weeks in Alaska. Our visit to Sheep Mountain Lodge and helicopter tour with Marc was one of the best parts of our trip. All Alaska vacations will now include a visit to Sheep Mountain Lodge. Next time it will hopefully be in March with an ice cave tour and northern lights!
