Cute and small little restaurant that serves brats and loaded fries! Prices are fairly decent but nothing like the food in Helen, Ga.
I'm not a huge German food connoisseur but I enjoyed the small snack we had. The fries were definitely out of this world good! The brats were just okay and I didn't think they were worth the price.
I'd come back to try some other menu items, though!
I’ll admit, one of my secret (or not so secret) restaurant dreams is to open up a french fry shop – nothing but delicious, homemade french fries, served with sauces upon sauces upon sauces. That’s what Poynor’s Pomme Frites does! Except they add in sausages and ice cream too. That’s about 2 more items than I would ever do. Poynor’s is located at The Island in Pigeon Forge – it’s tucked in right alongside of the awesomely huge ferris wheel. Parking is a bit of a cluster for the Island so…go to the far right when pulling in, park by a tram stop and let the tram bring you right to the entrance of the Island. So many awesome shops back there!
This place got a 4.6 rating (legendary) so we had to try it. We were not disappointed. We both had the Thueringer bratwurst and shared an order of the cheesy frites. They have tons of different sauces to dip your fries in. We had the original, Black Forest, and Cuckoo. And they give you four different bottles of mustard for your brat. I'm telling you, it was very good! Definitely will be coming back here! And the staff was very friendly and wanted to make sure we were pleased. Doesn't get better then this!
What a great idea a little German restaurant in the smokies. We tried the frites and the bratwurst both were delicious. We had to also sample the spaghetti ice cream it was good as well. The prices seemed a little high but for being in the middle of a tourist area they weren't that bad. We will be stopping here anytime we visit the area.
Really good brawtwerst in many different variations. The fries are actually really good and hot with many many different dipping sauces to choose from. The ice cream is awesome just watching them make it is a experience. Only downside I wish they had fountain drinks.
The cheese frites with cheese, bacon and jalapeño will feed two people and are worth the price tag! Don't forget to ask for the mustards for your brats.
A nice stop for a snack in our busy day. Great staff. Hot food, Delicious dips. Even the Yankees fan was nice. Must have been the frites!
We recently moved back to the States after living in Germany for a few years. We definitely enjoyed all the different brats and sausages in Germany and have been missing them, so this place was a welcome sight. I had a grilled weisswurst and it was exactly like I remember from Germany. Our kids had nuremburgers and said the same thing. We walked around The Island, eating our sausages on brotchen - just like we did in Germany.
I just returned from living in Germany outside of Nuremberg, so we were excited to find a little taste of Bavaria here. The place is small but is spot on. Brats were excellent. True Nuremburgers are smaller- but tasted precisely like them. The Germans place 3x together on a roll unlike here, but this place had all the mustards and extras that give it a very close feel (minus the language barrier!). My boys loved them and it was a great flashback to living overseas. Highly recommend!
I grew up in Mannheim, Germany and this took me back to my childhood. My kids looked at me weird when I got excited about the spaghetti ice! Contrary to the other review, spaghetti ice has been around at least since the 80's.... The curry wurst was pretty darn authentic and the owner smiled when I asked for mayonnaise with my fries.
This is another must visit snack or lunch destination! You will see quite a few posts from others hailing their French Fries... They are all completely right and possibly even understating just how awesome these fries are! They are crispy, yet pillowie, if that can be an adjective!
Equally rockin are the two gentlemen that work there. They knew we were on vacation, and they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our visit. We planned in advance, weeks in advance, to visit Poynor's and we were not disappointed or underwhelmed!
The spaghetti ice cream was just as freakin good and you can't forego it!
Great little place to eat, Prices are decent and the food is amazing. located on the back side of "The Island" under the shade of the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. The portions are large and always made fresh. The only issue I have seen yet is the amount of indoor seating. During a busy time you may have to wait a while or seat outside which during rain or cold times is not pleasant. Overall I will definitely return
The namesake fries did not disappoint! Crispy and golden, with dozens of dipping sauces to choose from. We also loved the "spaghetti" ice cream, delicious and fun to eat. We'll definitely be back!
It's a nice little brat and fries joint. I tried the spicy mustard, but it had a strong horseradish taste to it. I don't like horseradish myself, but they do have 3 other mustards. I liked the Beer Mustard.
My wife had seen this dessert on YouTube. She wanted to try it. Spaghetti ice cream! Complete with meatballs and biscuits. It was delicious. Not sure about anything else on the menu, but this was worth the trip!
Located at the island in pigeon forge. The fries are fresh cut in-house & wonderful. The brats are amazing as well. They have several different dipping sauces & also several different mustard which are awesome! They even sell some of the mustards by the bottle. Definatly worth eating here if your in the island. Everything else is chain processed frozen junk at the island.
Awesome place, food is good and prices are reasonable! Kids love it!
Delicious! My wife and I both loved our food. The service was friendly and quick. I'd recommend trying this place!
Good food, very nice people, and a great atmosphere. Enjoyed my time there.
The only place we could find without a 30+ minute wait at dinner time during Thanksgiving week. Prices were decent, considering the area. We went right before closing at 7:30pm, so they were out of chili and cheese. We each had a sausage, and shared a regular fries (more than big enough for 2!) Everything was good, and although it wasn't the healthiest meal we could havIe had, it was decent - especially for fast food. If the weather were warmer, I would have loved to try the "spaghetti" ice cream - neat idea!
