We just spent a week at Wilderness in the Smokies. We ate at the Thirsty Miner 3 different times. Each time was great.
Two times we got pizza to go. The pizza was well done and very filling. My kids loved the cheese pizza. Each time it was a good temp for my kids to eat right away. If you have kids you know it can be a pain for hungry children to wait for food to cool down.
One time we dinned in the restaurant. It was really good. The waitress was super nice and fast. Then the food was tasty and well prepared. I will add pictures below.
We sat by the window and my kids stayed distracted by everything to look at. Also, because it is such a kid friendly place I don't feel as bad if my kids start talking to other kids at the next booth. Everyone is there with their family and having a good time.
Lastly, the price was great! We went out and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and this dinner was the least expensive.
I have no idea what people are rating this restaurant so low... but the food was really good!!! The night we went, the buffet wasn’t open, so we ordered off of the menu and the service was top notch and every thing we ordered came out fast and was delicious! We will be back!
Our waitress, Dakota, was very attentive and I couldn't be more pleased with her service/attention to our table. Due to construction, the buffet is pretty limited but the price projects that. I suggest having hand sanitizer at the buffet for customers to use.
We recently stayed on the property and wanted to dine at the Thirsty Miner. My daughter has a Soy allergy, she can’t have anything related to soy, not even letchin. So naturally we were concerned about the buffet, not knowing ingredients. We asked if they had any Soy free options and they were great about accommodating her. The chef himself, Chef Tom, came out with a binder that had every ingredient of all food and condiment items in the restaurant. He said they are meticulous about allergies and cross contamination. He was able to make her, fresh himself, chicken and pasta with a garlic butter sauce. My daughter enjoyed her meal and we were grateful they were able to make her something! We will definitely dine there again on our next trip!
A bit pricey but the food wasn't too bad. Two of us ordered sirloins that were the special and although a little tough they still enjoyed them. I got the Nashville chicken and it was good. The sides and salad bar were very good. Our server Tara was excellent. Very attentive and pleasant.

The drink I ordered was delicious. I wish I remembered the name of it but it was good!

This is a resort that caters to children. If you’re looking for a five star gourmet restaurant then you’re missing the point. The buffet is above average and the price is reasonable considering kids 8 and under eat free. I was super impressed that the breakfast buffet offers a small salad bar in addition to all the sugary breakfast favorites. The service was also very good both times we were there (dinner and breakfast). There’s a Golden Corral down the road of you’re looking for a buffet for cheaper, but I thought the food was better quality than a place like that and overall this is a great family resort that offers all a family needs in one location. My husband was also very pleased with his adult beverages from the bar. They were reasonably priced as well. Just know what to expect and you don’t need to worry about the negative reviews.
Typical buffet but with fantastic service. Fortunately, we waited too late to go out and eat and chose here against the reviews. We were pleasantly surprised and our admittedly low expectations were exceeded. Three different versions of fried chicken, pizza, salad bar, carving station, taco area, mini corn dogs, decent sides and a good dessert section. For just $18 a head, it's a hard to beat buffet that you can walk to.
Food was good, server Hailey T. was AWSOME, lost a Star because they specifically advertised Peacan Pie and they did not have any gained it back when Hailey T. Brought us her favorite dessert. I would suggest removing the pizza and Asian cuisine, due to the lack of popularity and that way you have room. For more special offerings. Everything else was really good.
We almost didn't go because of the horrible reviews. It was a typical breakfast buffet, bacon, eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, etc. it was $36 for 2 adults and 2 children. Everything was hot and fresh. I recommend going early. Service was great, very friendly server.
