I thought the food was quite tasty and the prices were pretty awesome. It's a simple type of place, nothing too unique or extravagant. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a side of sweet cornbread.
Both items were very tasty. The pulled pork sandwich came in a nice portion. The price was awesome at just $9. They had a great ratio of meat to bread. The bottom layer of bread was completely soaked from the moistness of the pork, though.
The meat itself was tender and decently flavorful. Not too fatty thankfully. Their BBQ sauce is very standard and not my favorite, but it did add some solid flavor to the sandwich. The sandwich also has some coleslaw, which is nice. It's already included with the meat.
The cornbread was quite good as well. Not too crumbly, but I do still wish it were more moist. I loved the cinnamon butter they served with it! Still warm when I got home from the drive. And so, so delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. Tasted almost like cake.
All in all, I definitely enjoyed this place. Very good meat and cornbread. It's a solid spot that anyone seeking BBQ should try out at least once. Reasonable prices and good portions, too.
Listen, we're not in Kansas anymore. I'm under no illusion that you're going to get real southern BBQ anywhere in Pennsylvania, let alone smack in the middle of the city. So maybe it was because my expectations weren't sky high, but regardless, I was blown away by this joint!! The ribs are fall-off-the-bone, the pulled pork is juicy and flavorful, and the sides are worth the extra cash (particularly the baked beans)!
No wonder the door was swinging open all night. I'll be coming back for round two!
Amazing experience! Little hole in the wall location not too loud. Ate hot honey chicken was delicious and spicy! Didn't disappoint!
One of the greatest hidden gems in Pittsburgh. The entire place has a very chill vibe and the staff are all very welcoming. On top of that some of the most amazing BBQ!! really loved the reaper sauce and the smoked wings. And it was all very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend as one of the best restaurants on the south side!
Southside BBQ was incredible!! ALL the meats were cooked perfectly, the sides were absolutely delicious, that brisket chili was amazing and that's honestly some of the best cornbread I've ever eaten. Well worth the drive to the south side!
We had South Side BBQ cater our wedding reception and every bit of the food was amazing! We got ribs, pork and chicken along with beans, Mac n cheese and cornbread. We loved the food and so did all of our guests. 100% recommend. Very accommodating to us
The food was amazing. The owner came out & checked on everyone inside the restaurant. . Customer service was great. The ribs was better than Showcase BBQ in Homewood. You should definitely come to this place if you want really good bbq food
Their food is truly amazing and I make sure to grab it every time I see their food truck. Visited them today at the Castle Shannon Firemen’s event. Food was on point. The serving size is perfect! I even had to share my chili with my dog because she loves chili that much. Keep up the amazing work! You guys truly are amazing ♥️
Cozy little place with great barbecue. The seafood mac and cheese is also not to be missed, I just had it for dinner.
Decent place, the sauces were good and they had a nice variety of heat levels.
The brisket I had was a bit chewy which is why I docked a star but I would come again for sure.
