Visited this place for the first time today and I am so upset that I have never been here before! I love Carson St and typically if I'm having a fun night out you'll find me here, but I never knew the Vault existed and that is a SHAME. With self service taps and some phenomenal food it's a really exciting, new experience that I've never had! Even if you're not a big beer drinker you can get a card and just taste test different beers/ciders/wine and you pay by the ounce not by the drink so it's an easy way to find some new things that you like without shelling out tons of money for flights at restaurants. The drafts are so good and the food is even better. If you find yourself on Carson, please find yourself here, it is now one of my backpocket spots for if I just want to experience something fun and I think you'll feel the same! ❤️
I'm a big fan of the self-serve tap concept. It allows you to try a taste of many different brews, without filling up on one. Great to see this finally come to Pittsburgh. Good variety of local and national craft beers, though I would prefer if it tilted more towards local.
Food is also tasty: a variety of elevated, southen-influenced, gastropub-style plates. Recommend ordering a few off their tastes menu to menu to accompany your drinks. The fried green tomatoes are standout.
Would recommend checking this place out, it's a unique bar amongst the dozens on the Southside.
Favorite new South Side bar! Loved the tap system! Very easy to scan card and pour as much beer/wine/cider as you like. Very tasty appetizers, can’t wait to go back to try different beers on tap and more off of the menu!
We went to the Vault Taproom just before everything shut down. If we'd understood the severity of the pandemic, we may have missed it. I'm glad we went and look forward to going back once it's safe to be inside with strangers again with no masks.
The setup at the Vault Taproom is great and even if you don't like beer (I'm not a fan), they have a lot of options. The system with cards and being able to try whatever you want is really fun and delicious.
The food was wonderful and there were so many items I want to try on the menu. Looking forward to going back someday...
I feel lucky to found this place nearby my hotel, the food is amazing, especially the in-house smoke ingredients. They have a really good selection of beers that can match your food perfectly. And what about the service, even when the restaurant is crowded the service is fast and efficient. The music is not too loud so you can discuss and take your time. No one push you out. The price is reasonable but pay attention to the beer you drink, its quality so it the price can increase fast. Certainly the best restaurant on Carson St. And probably one of the best of Pittsburgh.
Ryane is a fun, great sevrer that loves working here. Thank you for amazing service, food & beer. Love the beer tap wall. It is fun to sample different beers.
First visit. Food was very good and server was friendly and informative. We didn't try anything on tap but the server explained that you pay by the ounce by using a card they provide once you give them your driver's license.
It's a great place to go if you're looking for a chill afternoon or evening with friends. I went to this bar last night for the first time and really enjoyed the setup they had there. They have great happy hour specials with half off drafts, apps, and $3 off cocktails. I used it mainly for their drafts, as they have a self-serve wall, which gives you the option to try a lot of different beers. I also really recommend their pretzel sticks and cauliflower wings.
From my first impression I like the environment, it's very clean and organized. The art and lighting adds to the experience. Drinks well made and food done tastefully.
The vault itself (self service) portion is great. I really enjoyed being able to try small samples of a variety of beers. The beer selection was also great, though the wine felt like an after thought.
We had a big party and I the service was great. Probably helps quite a bit that they don’t have to be running for drinks constantly.
Lots of great food options, and almost everything we had was great. I didn’t like my dinner - Nashville hot chicken Mac and cheese - way too much spice/cayenne in the cheese sauce made it almost inedible. Everyone else seemed to like their dinner quite a bit.
I definitely plan to return.
