I am not sure where to start here or the Pizza Place a Couple doors down that led me to the "Down There Bar and Grill". The name has significance as I did not suspect that I would find such a Jem "Down There". The entrance way stairs seem daunting as it is located in the basement. The service was more than worth the effort of traversing the stairs. I made my way down the on the 12 of Oct 2023 I had just arrived in town (early) to see Atlus at the Crafthouse across the street. To my surprise the place was well lit with a with a little imagination you are very likely to forgot you are in a basement. I met Abby, she was serving the evening I arrived and quickly came oposite to where I had found a place at the bar.. it was not very crowded and thankfully that time of the day I would hope that folks were still at work. Although there were other customers in the bar, I might add much much more younger and equally more local. None the less Abby afford more than ample attention and at one point I may have monopolized her time. See was a very good listener.. you see my disability can make social interact awkward but it clicked with Abbey I told what I was looking for (something in a tall glass that can be enjoyed for a long time, but nothing too fruit. Well I am going to call the drink Abby made for me an Abby" Captain Orange and Ginger Ale. It really hit the spot. Looking back it might have been her very warm beautiful smile that made that place seem not so "basementy". I had the Cheesesteak Sandwich with fries and it was the bomb. I live within 45 minutes from philly and those Tony's, and Lucas's can't touch Ben's Cheese Steak and Fries period.
Love Trista! And I love how friendly all staff are. Need to return soon because I miss the place—and they’re the reason why :)
Amazingly welcoming staff. There are a lot of places that offer the "Pittsburgh Sandwich ". This place elevates it to an art form. Everything else was great as well. Highly recommend this little gem.
