The fried chicken, roti and curry is a must. But don't pass on a good drink, I had the turmeric vodka chi chi with coconut cream, very different and very yummy.

This location is still a solid place to get some great food. We ordered the whole chicken combo to share and also the grond pork dish. Everything we had met our expectations. I did enjoy the ground pork dish as it had a good amount of spicy kick to it.

Absolutely fell in love with this place! As somebody that would frequently visit Indonesia to see family the roti is fantastic and good enough that I would share with my family if they were ever to visit. Because of that, this place has instantly become a comfort food go to for me, the curry is hot, warm in fighting in the perfect level of spice, even for those that are new to spice. I don’t think that you can do this place justice if you don’t get the fried chicken that they have as that is the real star of the show. Exactly how my Indonesian grandmother would make it.

I always have a great meal and positive experience here. Recently, I came here multiple times during a week-long stay in Portland. Plenty of outdoor seating (there are more tables around the corner!) so I ordered the brisket curry and sat outside with the dogs. Very friendly staff and service - remember that even though you pay at the counter first! Then I came back the next day for a takeout lunch of the pad thai. Highly recommend adding the shrimp!! I’ve had the fried chicken and roti during previous visits so definitely don’t miss out on the combo! Love that the spot is family and dog friendly and can’t wait to come back and try more menu items.

Love the Thai style fried chicken here. Large portions and recommend the combo. Friendly staff that helps with clean up even though they have signs to clean up after yourself.

This was the perfect meal. We got the Hat Yai for two. The chicken, the rice, the roti, the curry, the pickled vegetables… all so delicious. The Thai iced tea was also a treat. Please come to Minneapolis!

I was craving fried chicken and Hat Yai totally filled it. I don't think I've ever had fried chicken with the flavors that Hat Yai has--I am speechless on how to describe it. Just go try it out for yourself and tell me if you've had it anywhere else. We ordered the Hat Yai for two which was half a chicken, sticky rice, 2 roti's and curry. We ended up adding 2 additional wings for $3 each since we were starving. This ended up being the right amount of food for my husband and I. The roti too was amazing. It was soft and flakey which made it perfect for dipping in the curry. I encourage anyone who wants fried chicken with a twist to try out Hat Yai for a unique experience.

Hat Yai, hits the nail on the head for a thai spot with some amazing flavors. I shared the combo which came with thai fried chicken, sticky rice, pickles, roti, and their famous curry. The chicken came out super hot and crispy. The roti tastes more thick than what I expected but it worked well with the salty curry that was just a flavor bomb of umami! Definitely going back to try some other dishes! Enjoyed the vibe, they got happy hour specials, and this place is a great causal spot for a meal with friends.

Delicous food! This is an order at the counter type of place. They get really busy sometimes, and it can be a bit of wait for food on the weekends. The staff are great and quite nice. This is a southern style of Thai food. This Thai food is different than most thai restaurants. The food is outstanding. The food that says it is spicy, which means it is on fire spicy at this place I learned the hard way. My favorite is the Pad Thai wrapped in egg. Everything is so yummy! Moderate prices, decent portion size, and street parking.

My chicken was perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. Just the way I love it! The curry has a lovely cinnamon flavor! Divine! I highly recommend this place!
