Absolutely delicious, and a new place for us to get our Lebanese fix when in Portland. The Mezza for two was an excellent value and afforded me and my hus a hearty dinner plus lunch the next day. Perfectly seasoned meats and dolmas, and the baba and hummus were wonderful too.
Beautifully presented and delicious Lebanese food. The menu includes all of my favorites including Mujadara . The service was excellent and the host/server was engaging and welcoming. Zaatar also features Lebanese wine and beer. The desert options are not typical for a middle eastern restaurant, but more like what you would find in a French Pasteria.
Spendy good food. Nice atmosphere, prompt and friendly service, good food. Both the hummus and the baba ganoush were a cut above what you usually find. Very tasty. Enough vegan options to put together a good meal. Some good wine choices, although not an extensive list (3 reds, 3 whites by the glass). Nice location in the Pearl, although you pay for this with menu prices twice what you would pay in comparable restaurants.
I ordered Falafel small plate, baba ghannouj and ice tea. The plate contains 3 Falafel pieces, salad and tahini sauce. It’s crispy and delicious!
Baba ghannouj is fresh and tasty.
The service is friendly and prompt. It took less than 5 mins to get the food after the order.
The place is clean, calm and plays good Arabic music.
I'm a native to Portland and a huge foodie. Extremely Picky! I rarely take the time to write a review. I also like Lebanese Food, I've been to other middle eastern Lebanese restaurants throughout america and in Portland and I've been walking by this place for some time now and i'm the typical foodie that get's in his comfort zone and stays within the restaurants I like hardly to I to change. Haven't had Lebanese for some time now due to the fact I've been very disappointed with many of the other Lebanese, middle eastern restaurants in Portland they just don't produce the same quality like they use to well that was until I went out of my comfort zone on Saturday 08/12 and tried Zaatar.
1:From the beginning we were greeted with LOVE (I was really amazed on the level of service I got here and most importantly it was authentic not like most of the FAKE service you get from other places) I felt like they actually cared about me as a customer and my business and not just a number. Lots of love here.
2: The presentation of the food was like eating at 5 star michelin restaurants. Very well presented. No restaurant in their category presents dishes like this with so much detail (see photos)
3: Ingredients were the best quality of Lebanese or middle eastern food I've eater.
If can't decide which Lebanese restaurant to eat at or if your thinking of going to Mediterranean Exploration (which is over rated and over price) look to further you must eat here in fact you'll want to eat here. This place is addicting. So addicting I came back the next day for the Sunday Buffet for all you can eat (which I think was $25 FOR ALL YOU CAN EAT) I WAS IN HEAVEN!! HEAVEN!!!
What to order:
lamb shawarma (see photo below)
Grape Leaves (be careful their addicting) I came back on saturday and had 6..lol.
baba ganoush (oh yes you def want this 100% authentic dish)
Honestly you can't go wrong here. If your visiting from out of town sit back get a glass of wine and ENJOY!!
Wow withdrawals are kicking in again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Promise you wont be disappointed!
Best Lebanese in America and in PORTLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing food! Really recommend it. We tried the Falafel salad, hummus with beef and a lebanesse pizza with lamb, Lebanese wine and Lebanese beer. A Must for Portland!
Great authentic flavors, just wish I had more sauce (also very good, i just ate it too fast is all). I'd come back here.
Wow, some of the best Lebanese food I’ve ever had. And extra inexpensive. Super fresh. More of that fresh baked pita please.
I have been at lots of different restaurants but this one is the best one,
Really good food, the staff are really nice, I love everything about this place.
So, good great food and atmosphere. Ate almost everything befor thinking to take photo.
Zaatar has a really wonderful lunch buffet on Wednesday and Friday. If you like middle eastern food this place is a great one.
For essentially the price of a pub sandwich you have an alternative that is so much better for you. The pita bread came to my table and burst open to reveal steam. It was so delicious with the hummus and all the other delicacies.
The friendly inviting staff has you in for a great and comfortable dining experience.
Wonderful small restaurant nestled in the Pearl. Perfect location and delicious food. I had the combination platter, and all 3 meats had fantastic tenderness and flavor. The service was incredibly kind and fast. I'll definitely be coming back.
So I just gotta share my love for Zaatar! My partner and I found this place by accident while wondering around the Pearl incredibly hungry. We literally followed our noses!
We've been back every chance we get and will continue to go back for the amazing food and warm atmosphere! This place definetly has a family vibe and you can tell the owner really cares about his restaurant.
The food can be made to accommodate all diets and is ridiculously fresh and delicious! I haven't found better Lebanese food in Portland thus far.
I have no idea why anyone would say anything negative about the food or the service because our experiences have always been awesome. We leave stuffed and happy (with food leftover!).
