Best chicken sandwich ever! The guy at the front was super helpful and nice! He said the fried chicken sandwich was delicious and he wasn’t kidding. We only paid 4.50 for fries and it fed both me and my fiancé! Amazing chicken and the best seasoned fries I will defiantly be back! Super affordable hot chicken in the PDX area!!!
If this company ever decides to change their name, Simply Tasty would be a good alternative. It's affordable and hits the spot. I was able to get 3 items (fried chicken sandwich, fries, and Mac and Cheese) for all under 22 dollars including tip! In this environment, that's absolutely unheard of. Thanks for the meal!!!
It’s been a while since I had incredible fried chicken and Basilisk delivered! I ordered the Hot Chicken Plate and chatted with the staff about the spice level which they perfectly described. It’s hotter than jalapeño but less hot than habanero. It was so delicious! And flavorful. I love spicy food and it was perfect. I split the Dan Dan fries with my friend and those were amazing!! I loved the drizzle and the freshness. Also talk about crispy fries. Just excellent! My friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich and said it was delicious! The staff were so sweet and watched my stuff when I went to use the restroom. They’re the best and their food is so delicious!

There are very few places in the *world* who get their fried chicken just right. It has to be the right combination of crispy from the outside, yet tender and juicy when you take that bite, and Basilisk has really cracked the code to achieving that.
I try fried chicken almost everywhere I go.. and every culture and cuisine have their own take on it, but who doesn't love a good old fried chicken with just some coleslaw sandwiched between soft buns. No spices, no seasoning, nothing. Just letting the fried chicken take the front seat so that you can savor every bite.
This was my second time visiting Basilisk and first time I had tried their hot chicken plate which was equally 5/5!! The service is quick and amazing too. The lady at the counter who was taking orders and serving food was very welcoming and kind.
I made sure to give my compliments to the chef as I was heading out, and they accepted it graciously.
I would definitely keep coming back to this place and would highly recommend chicken lovers to check this out!
Holy S**T! This place has THE BEST AND MOST SPICIEST fired chicken I have ever had!!!! The beyond perfect crust of the succulent juicy chicken crunches and cracks with just the right amount of teeth pressure, don’t even get me started on the sauces or the cold slaw stuff on the sandwich! For 12 bucks YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER CHICKEN :)! They this place seriously!
Delicious! The chicken sandwich is big enough for two people. Sometimes we get the salad and the Dan Dan fries. Everything is excellent. We sit in the pay dirt bar which is really comfortable. Come here at least once a month.
Basilisk is a wonderful chicken restaurant, ha. This place rocks, they have the best fried chicken, they best chicken salads and the happiest employees in the building. There is never really a wait, so the food is ready pretty quickly, which makes us happy because we have a kid, and he always wants his food now.
Lots of options to choose from and you can sit inside or outside under the covered patio next to the fire, grab a beer or cocktail from PayDirt and enjoy some Portland life style.
Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Dan Dan Fries were great. I thought the plate would have more chicken/ bigger pieces of chicken but it was delicious either way. Not very spicy but I have a high tolerance. They have Frank's hot sauce on the side which pairs great.
This was such a good spot. We were craving fried chicken sandwiches and this place delivered. The fried chicken sandwich was so good and the fries were so flavorful. Great spot for kids too.
Definitely check this one out! Chicken sandwich is awesome and one of the best in Portland for size and value. There’s no sauce on it so it’s dry unless you add some.
