TL;DR: great authentic food. Desserts are "ok". Soup is very flavorful and has a "home cooked" vibe.
Parking: free street side parking.
Atmosphere: more seating in the back around the corner.
Menu: minimal images but descriptive. It has a blend of Cambodian and Vietnamese food, but it felt more on the Vietnamese side.
Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered, check brought to you.
Phnom Penh Pork Noodle: the soup is "souper" flavorful! Has a real homemade vibe and is very satisfying. All the ingredients blend together nicely and is the perfect meal for a rainy day.
Pork Vermicelli Bowl with Crispy Roll: the pork is thinly cut and is very flavorful, though some slices were slightly chewy. I'm a big fan of the assorted veggies in the bowl and the generous proportion of crispy rolls (2 cut rolls), the sauce for the vermicelli bowl was very flavorful (a perfect balance of tang, sugar, and salt).
Ube Flan and Pandan Flan: flan is so vibrantly colored like acrylic paint and is lightly sweetened -- the bottom "juice" is where all the sugar is at so I recommend starting to eat from the bottom up to maximize coating each bite with the sugary sauce. Overall, taste was not bad, I could taste the ube/pandan, but I probably wouldn't get it again. If I had to choose between the two, I think Pandan would be best, the flavor was stronger.
Among Thai restaurants, this place has a wide variety of menu items and they all look delicious. We had #55.Yellow Chicken Curry and #37.Vietnamese Turmeric Noodles. Both are similar turmeric-based soup noodles, but they have completely different tastes, and both are surprisingly rich, flavorful, and delicious. 🤤 We would like to try them again, even though they are far away from us.🚙=3
They are listed as one of the best Pho restaurants in PDX for a reason! Their pho is delicious! On a cold night in Portland, it was the perfect way to warm up. We enjoyed their chicken wings as an appetizer before diving into our pho! Broth was flavorful and the noodles were done perfectly. Service was great. Definitely recommend!
Party of 3 went for a quick dinner before flying out from PDX on Memory Day. Got there around 6pm and there was plenty of seating available. Loved the food. Started with the guava soda and chicken pot stickers. One friend had the pho and loved the portions. I had the vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken and it was great. We shared the macarons and liked those too. Well priced. Service was quick and friendly.
The soup is good! The waitress wasn’t the most friendly when we first came in :/
The mango laca (if I spelled it right) is a sweet and spicy drink, personally liked it more than I thought I would.
We also got a Vietnamese egg coffee but Holly smokes that thing was SWEET. Like really really sweet, almost like molten taffy 😂 didn’t like it as much though :/
Everything else is good :) one of the good phos that I’ve tried around
Talk about Pho comfort sup! Amazing! As soon as a walked into the place and heard a conversation not in English... I knew I was at the right spot! Back to food. Pho was 9 outta 10. I would give it a 10 if there was more noodles. You can add more noodles for an upcharge. The broth was on point and there was plenty of sliced chicken. Price for one person is 10 outta 10. Comes with the tradition Pho sides. I would come back in a heart beat. I have no issues given it to my seal of approval #gorditoapproved #fatbouapproved
Omg! Best Pho in Portland!! Everything was fantastic and cheap.
Except the bus boy , older guy seemed to have a chip on his shoulder and was just plain rude. But ignore that guy and get here to try the best Pho this side of the Mississippi! Don't forget to order a Chinese donut and for desert , the casava cake!! 🩵🩵🩵🐟🐟🐟🍤🍤🍝🍝
Great food and such nice staff! My boyfriend and I ended up walking into mekha because it was one of the only places still open during the storm. The food was awesome - we got pho, chicken wings, and beer. But the servers were so amazing and gave us some more spring rolls to go, and then cups of hot water to keep us warm on our walk back. Not to mention it was so fun to see their family all talking and laughing together during their down time 🥰 everyone in that restaurant was happy, even with the snow dumping outside!
An unexpected change in the usual Thai menus. I'll definitely come back and try their other dishes. Me and my friends were satisfied. I loved the Thai espresso with egg.
Hu Tieu Ca and Bun Bo Hue were my favorite. I love the cozy vibes and the service wa super. There are so many options on the menu so if you craving for something beside Pho, they probably have it. 10/10 would recommend :)
