Excellent and knowledgeable bartenders. Great spot to get locals perspective on things. Do folks really play catch inside with those baseball gloves? 🤣
Local tavern with charm. Patrons are friendly. Shots are a little pricey but this is Portland. The bartenders are very cool and fast service. The atmosphere is what sets it apart.
Our bartender was great. Everyone had a sense of humor. One old guy had his two little dogs with him. We toasted to the youngest dog whose narleys had apparently dropped that morning.
The bar is a piece of living art ! Totally awesome they even have rumplemintz which Is a staple of bars from Wisconsin dells and its awesome. The bar is in love with dogs (that can behave) love this bar its a great one to hang out with the locals which they will probably give more attention to your dog then the world
Love this bar Zach from Wisconsin
As tourists in Portland, we felt like regulars as soon as we entered the bar. We had so much fun day drinking on a Saturday afternoon and watching VHS tapes with the bartender and clientele, we didn’t mind spending 2 hours here on a perfectly beautiful sunny day.
Every surface (except the ceiling) in this bar is covered with art. There was even a marker provided next to the toilet to make your own marks. There is clearly a lot of love here and we’d definitely come back. It’s also far cleaner than you’d expect a place like this to be.
I didn't feel like I belonged there, but it was perfect for me. Definitely was a local spot. Prices were good, selection was what you'd expect. Worth it just to listen to the banter.
Place is the best. I love it. And the art and smells 😍 ✨️ it really sets the mood
It's a true dive, and I love it! The VCR and bottomless tapes? Perfect!
This the last truely dingy dive bar in downtown Portland! The space has been a bar for around 70 years and has been The Yamhill Pub since Kevin purchased it around 30 years ago. Kevin works most day shifts and he's always a hoot with plenty of interesting stories.
The bar attracts everone from crust punks to the elderly, service industry to cubicle crusaders. The Black & Blue is the standard go to drink special and there is a charming outdoor patio with seating (pandemic seating FTW!).
Normally the owner encourage you to bring in food from any restaurant or cart, but with the recent limitations the Governor has placed on bars, the Yammy food menu has been revamped with daily specials like kalua pork and rice or chilli dogs. Delicious! Get it while you still can! (And it's CHEAP!)
I highly recommend buying a tshirt or bandana so you can display to your friends and family, nay THE WORLD, that you patronized the last remaining "old Portland" dive bar. If you like your bars dark, dank, and with its own questionable scent, The Yamhill Pub is the destination for you!
Best, Dirty, little Dive Bar in Downtown. Lack of heat, graffiti on the walls, and the menu is there for pedantics. That being said, the staff and customers were open and friendly, the drinks were better than expected, and I'll probably be back again.
