If you want the best Vietnamese in town, branch out from your typical order and ask your server what to get. This place should be packed nightly. Yes, service is a little slow, but how do you bounce back from a pandemic with a full staff when you only have a few tables a night? Reviews that dock stars for this are only hurting small businesses. I traveled extensively in Vietnam and this place is better than most things I ate there. The turmeric noodles are gorgeous and the E8 - Hanoi street food - comes with a pile of fresh herbs and can be several meals worth of food. I also love the C3 soup with crab. Don’t skip the chicken wings! Please please support this restaurant because it might not last. Also, the prices are so reasonable I wouldn’t cringe at paying more. They are really trying to stay open.
If your looking for authentic food that takes time this is the place. They don't skimp on quality or ingredients. Be mindful that you're waiter is your chef as well and food is not pre-made and you will have to wait a bit, but it's worth it.
Large vegan/vegetarian menu, super nice people and great food. We ordered some Hanoi specialty food and 2 vegetarian dishes, had lots of extra to bring home. The place is full of live plants, some are currently blooming, which adds to the pleasantness. Parking around the corner in the neighborhood was easy to find. They got busier shortly after we came in, but we got our food at reasonable time m
I don't understand why this place is empty at lunchtime. Normally I ordered the pho but this time I decided to get the pork and seafood soup (D1) instead. It was delicious. The broth was flavorful, rice noodles had just a touch of chewiness, shrimp was cooked just right, the fish balls had just the right texture and the pork was lean. It was a wonderful bowl of soup.
So delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Glad we stopped by for lunch!
One of the MOST underrated Vietnamese restaurants in Portland. Hanoi kitchen should be on any meaningful Portland food list. Not sure why they aren’t getting the press they deserve. The owner is incredibly passionate about the food they put out and you can taste the love in the food.
Covid has heavily impacted the business and she has received no financial support from any of the Covid relief programs.
Support this business and it’s wonderful food.
Delicious and delightful! My companion and I ordered the shrimp salad rolls as an app to share and both got the vegan pho for our meal. Both were wonderful, the vegan pho is a real standout. Huge bowl of deliciously flavored broth, plenty of noodles and lots of fresh veggies. I’m unfortunately not a big fan of mushrooms and while there were a couple in the soup it was easy to avoid them. Oh yeah and they also served us a great warming table tea. So comforting and exactly what we needed on a chilly Portland winter evening. There were so many great sounding things on the menu, I’ll definitely be back.
Delicious, high quality ingredientss. The meat was so tender and the broth was bright and interesting. Lots of yummy herbs provided, and a good bit of spice.
Great options for both vegans and meat eaters. Best vegan pho broth I’ve had. Super friendly server and delicious food.
this place has a large menu including a large vegan menu and has many delicious authentic options that can't be found elsewhere in Portland. they are closed every Monday to cook their broth for 24 hours -- best vegan pho broth in town IMO
