This review has been long awaited!! My partner and I come here every month to try out their new seasonal experimental chocolates. Our favorite flavors and counting so far are lavender, elderberry and Jasmine tea. I heard they will soon bring back their curry flavor, which I'll definitely come back to try 😁. You may think the price is a bit bougie, but the chocolates are actually that good and you can sample each flavor before you buy and sometimes their samples are enough to fill you up. The owner and assistants are also lovely and helpful in finding the right flavor. Don't miss this stop during your Portland trip. They're always coming up with creative, funky mixes like chocolate covered chips. We finally got a bag (thank you!!!) that we will be trying soon.

Lovely little place with friendly and effective staff. Dangerously good chocolate--truly incredible actually, worth the price for sure! My favorite so far is the smoked cherrywood salted caramel truffle... Just about spiritually ascended eating one. I'm always happy to see vegan food places thriving in Portland, and this one's a banger!

Delicious chocolates! It’s worth popping by their storefront to get free samples and be able to choose from all their flavors. New Seasons also carries them, but with a smaller selection. The folks helping us were friendly and seemed to enjoy their work. It was fun to see all the freshly-made chocolates in the background.

Absolutely the best high-quality chocolates and truffles you can get. The flavors are all natural and very clear in the truffles. The owner is also the kindest person and definitely goes above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. If you're looking for a special treat, or a gift for a loved one, you truly cannot go wrong. My favorite flavors are the Dark Chocolate, the Raspberry, and the Salted Vanilla Caramel.

The staff was super friendly and let me sample whatever flavors I wanted to try! I went with the peppermint and the vanilla salted caramel and they were so amazing. I love that they’re vegan, and they tasted incredible. I will definitely be going back to try some more flavors!

The insides of these truffles are soft and ganache-y and kinda perfect. I'm so glad I finally stopped in. The employee who helped me was super kind and enthusiastic; she encouraged me to taste everything I picked out and then some! Great selection and everything is vegan, gluten free, and nut free. I was pretty excited about the Meyer lemon and the lavender especially but everything I tried was seriously awesome.

I fell in love with this place after the first visit. The chocolates are incredible. It's always a win for me when vegan items are loved equally by the vegan and non-vegan people in my life. These chocolates are that good, you don't miss the dairy! Great service and love the free samples. I'll be returning every time I visit Portland from now on.

It is difficult to sum up the experience of missionary chocolates and express that experience in words. Is the place small, yes. Is it a high-end chocolate establishment? No. Is it super cheap, I don't think so. What keeps me coming back can be summed up in three ways. First and foremost... my wife. Every time I'm in the area, I get a call from my special someone asking if I can pick up something for her. She goes crazy over the chocolate covered pretzels. Reason two: Service. I get great service from everybody I've encountered behind the counter. They are patient and timely with my order. Last but definitely not least is the free samples. I wasn't aware that lavender could go with chocolate and that it was a flavor I liked until I was able to sample said flavor. I feel as if this business deserves my rating because they make a great product at a reasonable price and smile while they do it. Bottom line: do yourself a favor and give them a try. The worst that can happen is a bit of a dent in the pocketbook, but the smile on your face will totally be worth it.

I’m always looking for “real” chocolate in Portland, and Missionary Chocolates delivered! The chocolate is natural and rich, they have many flavors from coffee to earl grey, from lavender to cardamon and more. It’s great for yourself or for a sweet gift! I wasn’t familiar with Missionary Chocolate and Kerstin walked me through the history of the brand and their delicious chocolate. We sampled many flavors and the chocolatier was making some marshmallow chocolate and gave them to us to try. Just writing about it I am salivating! Oh and you can add your chocolate square to your hot milk and make it a hot chocolate, so good! Thank you Missionary Chocolates! See you soon!
