A lot of locals working there, it fills up fast it seems. I did not have a good spot to plug in my laptop so I had to leave very soon. But the matcha latte was really good!
Great coffee options, which can also be made with a variety of alternative milks. There is also a local kombucha sold here which was amazing! Try the coconut flavor and you will not be disappointed!
Cozy atmosphere, very roomy and not claustrophobic. Love the upstairs seating area. Perfect spot to hang out and read a good book, get some work done, or chat with a friend. Great coffee made with high quality beans, roasted to perfection. The chai is really good, spicy but not overbearing, and the lattes are all made with exceptional care and craftsmanship. Overall a perfect example of what a fantastic coffee shop looks like and feels like, with a tight operation, friendly baristas, and a welcoming atmosphere.
I walked past a bunch of places for coffee. But this place is heaven. Come inside take a look and you'll see what I'm talking about. This wide open construction manages to feel cozy & relaxing ATST. One of the only places where the barista noticed my coffee cup was malfunctioning. Did not even need to ask. First rate all the way. Friendly. Courteous. First class service. Bargain price! Check out the courtyard. It's going to be a great spring! My top recommendation for 2023 for Al erta as it's not busy and fast service. The highlight of my day. Thank you ☺️
Great coffee shop in the Alberta neighborhood. The interior feels very homey, with a beautiful mid century modern decor, an impressive caffeine molecule chandelier and a super cool roaster! The rolling garage door is super nice in summertime. If you like interior design, you should check this place out, the owners really did an amazing job. The mezzanine has a lot of seating with plugs everywhere. Did not try the coffee, but the jasmine matcha was excellent.
It was the first time visit. I want the coffee barista to recommend a kind of coffee bean for me. But he made me feel like he is not familiar with their products.

Case Study represents one of the more consistent coffee roasters in the Greater Portland area. The Alberta location is ideally located among one of the more trendy parts of the city. One can easily spend an entire morning or afternoon in this neighborhood.
All of their offerings are on point with some of my favorites being their cold brew, espresso, and matcha. They offer an array of milk alternatives, including almond, soy, and oat. Case Study also pulls shots that are consistent and properly calibrated, resulting in a tasty and visually appealing crema. There’s also a decent selection of pastries and non-coffee drinks available.
The customer service at this location is always very good and they can be quite helpful if you walk in undecided. Since they’re located right off the sidewalk, you can relax and enjoy your brew while people watching or enjoying a great read. There are also multiple electrical outlets (particularly upstairs) so feel free to bring your laptop along. A/A*
We drove 30 minutes to try this place. Excellent experience, coffee is delicious! Had the Carmel bourbon latte and another latter I forgot the name but both were perfectly balance and delicious. Second best coffee I've had!
Side note: we came in Saturday and it was not too busy, we were the only ones in line and the service received was kinda awkward. At first the guys were welcoming but when I wanted to customize one of the drinks on the menu, (latte instead of cappuccino) I was looked at oddly before they hesitantly said okay. I dont know what the deal was but that was my only off moment here.
The jasmine matcha is so good - fav that Ive found in pdx
