Really enjoyed the spicy pork dumpling for Portland Dumpling week. It was a slightly seared dumpling and it was delicious. I also like that on the weekends a dim sum cart goes from table to table offering some unique dim sum. I also love the ramen which has great flavor and several vegetables. This was a perfect rainy day dining event
Good, quick meals with plenty of vegetarian options. Everything was tasty. We really enjoyed the vegan ramen bowl and the grilled eggplant steamed bun (which is basically an Asian taco). The woman taking our order convinced us to get a brussel sprout salad, which she raved about. It was ok but not as good as the other dishes we ordered.
Boke Bowl has won my heart. It's basically fast casual; think Chipotle only Asian food. The atmosphere is clean and fun, nice lighting and color scheme. The service was friendly and funny at times (in a good way). They even have dinosaur chopsticks for kids. I started with the fried chicken steamed buns. Wow, what a great appetizer. The savory fried chicken melds with the sweetness of the buns and the pickled topping gives a salty, spicy kick. My main course was the pork ramen with an egg. Very flavorful, very well prepared for the quickness with which it was served. The pork was tender, the egg perfectly poached, noodles a nice texture, am the broth contained a powerful punch of flavor. Oh, and they had Coke in glass bottles, the Mexican kind with the real sugar. Yum. I wish we had some Boke Bowl's in Pittsburgh! 07/17/15
This was so good! I'll definitely be recommending this restaurant! Not sure what the negative reviewers had, but my meal was fantastic! 😊
I only visited once so I don’t think I’m ready to really review the new Boke Bowl dim sum service, which is only a month or so old at this point. However, I thought I’d share a few photos of what some of the possible offerings you would see. Dim Sum is only available at the Boke Bowl West location, which is at 1200 NW 18th (cross street is Northrup, right along the trolley line), and is only served from 11 AM – 3 PM on Saturday and Sundays. Although dim sum is available, you can also still choose to order from their regular ramen menu and such as well. For a winter special they are offering a duck ramen (which you see here with the add in of fried chicken and their orange dot sauce, a pickled mustard seed in aioli base) and they have a vegetarian ramen option with Caramelized fennel dashi and add in of brined smoked tofu). . If you haven’t experienced Boke ramen yet, I think it is very tasty especially if you want to take a vegetarian and if you are ok and even want to try a fusion style that is not traditional ramen in any way and set your expectations accordingly. For instance, I always always get the fried chicken add in, not just for the chicken protein but to add the ODS sauce flavor to the bowl. Reservations and take out are not available for dim sum- and just like most dim sum service, there a
The wife and I's first try at a ramen place and this was fantastic! The gal that took our order was very friendly and answered every question we asked with a cheerful smile. I had the Duck Dashi ramen and my wife had the poke bowl. Both were tasty and great! We shared three steam buns and it was great that they allow mixing and matching of them. The pork belly and brisket we're my favorites but the chicken was delicious as well. We also shared the fried pears which were really good. We finished by sharing a vanilla miso twinkie which was perfect because we were stuffed! All of it was great and will not hesitate to return.
Good fusion mix of Asian cuisine. Lunch seems more than cheap eats when looking at menu prices (not a five dollar rice bowl), but portions are sizable and tasty. Clean with attentive and friendly staff, drink selection is good with cocktails as well. Come back to sample different items on menu, definitely a repeat visit place.
Boke Bowl was a great experience overall. A couple of the staff could have a better attitude, but the cashier was very nice and helpful.
My only foodie comment would be to step up the egg game! The slow poached eggs wasn't really worth it.
The fried chicken steam buns are a must have!!! Food was delicious and staff were great! Would come back again in a heart beat.
I finally made into Boke Bowl and really glad I did. Ordered the spicy chicken miso with chicken sausage bowl and added an egg for $1.50 more (along with a Breakside IPA).
Soup came out quickly and presented itself very well. Not only did it look delicious it WAS delicious. All the ingredients married well together and really hit the spot. After a few bites I added the cry baby hot sauce to kick it up a few notches in the heat/spice department. That worked.. I was sweating pretty good by the time I finished.
Great location and ambiance.
All in with 15% tip was around $24; maybe a tad pricey for a lunch but was so damn good; felt worth it. I'll be back to try another dish!
This was my first time at Bike Bowl. I ordered the tofu bowl and also tried the mushroom hot bun. If I could order again, I would exclude the pickles and the tofu and just add more eggplant. The flavor is all there. I also ordered their ginger limeade and I loved that too. The bowl was plenty to share, and there are so many ingredients in each one. I wish their rice had more ginger in it. I didn't really find it super flavorful. Service was friendly and very accommodating.
If you're in Portland and looking for a Ramen spot, go no further than Boke Bowl. It's the number one place for Ramen in my books.
Everytime I fly to Portland from Australia, its the first place I eat at each and every time.
The staff are friendly, the chefs are great and the food speaks for itself.
Do yourself a favour and visit.
Pictured: Fried Chicken Rice Bowl, Tuna Poke Bowl and Fried Chicken and Pork Belly Steamed Buns. All phenomenal!! 12/10 would recommend.
1. The food is incredible.
2. You can get a good-sized, well-rounded meal for $11-$13
3. Do yourself a favor and get something with the fried chicken
Always a vegan option and a vegan dessert and they do not disappoint. So damn good.
