Our meal was extraordinary but the disposable service items have to go. This was my first time at OX and I absolutely loved the food. I was looking forward to a fine dining experience. I was planning to order a cocktail but learned that all beverages are served in disposable plastic cups... Really?!! The food is so good but they must find a way to improve the overall dining experience.
In town for a conference and the bartender at Teardrop Lounge recommended Ox. The meal was wonderful. It started with our waiter who was attentive and knew the menu very well. We started with the roasted sweet potato empanada. It was big enough for all three of us to get a nibble. It was delicious.
My first time coming here was during covid-19 and this was the best outdoor dining experience ever. Every table was under their own canopy. We also had our own compost bin, and every table has an additional "setting" table for the servers. Also the food is bomb, try the clam chowder!
This restaurant is excellent! 100% recommended. From the moment I called to make the reservation we knew it was going to be a great experience. Food was fenomenal. Service was great. My friends and I had never been in a restaurant that handles this COVID situation as good as OX does. They truly follow the mandatory guidelines. They are clean, and respect your space. Wish there were more restaurants like this one on the west coast.
We ordered the clam chowder (which was fenomenal), empanadas, a fig salad and a steak and it all was unbelievable delicious.
Whey Bar, the two ladies working were awesome. Service top notch, cocktails were spot on. Perfectly shucked oysters. Timing of food was perfect. Vegetable dishes were a bit of a miss. Carrots were not what I was hoping for as they were cut up into small bite sized pieces and skinned. I for some reason dreamed of them being whole, charred and glazed so that's my own fault. Ribeye was delicious. Fois. Sweet breads. What more do you need?
Platters perfect for family style. Blood sausage blew me away. If you need your meat fix, look no further
Celebrated my son birthday. It was fantastic. The clam chowder is a must. I had the best Halibut dinner I have ever tasted. The men raved about their steaks. Only one in our party was not real excited about the scallops. It is spend but well worth it. The wine list is on the high price side but we brought our own special bottle. $50 corkage fee for a Magnum but felt that was reasonable. Service was great.
If you want an amazing dining experience this is the place to go! Don't forget dessert! All the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. A must do if you're visiting Portland.
