Excellent dinner. Terrific martini. Awesome pizza and pasta. Even the kids liked it and the game was on too!
Excellent!. Met some friends at Sugo for dinner last night, and I am so pleased to say EVERYTHING was excellent, from the food to the wine to the service. Super friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere, and great bustling noise level where you can talk without yelling.
We started with a charcuterie & cheese pllatter, in which all of the choices were amazing, and we had almost everything on the list. I think my favorites would be the chorizo and the speck. Then we got the fried chicken, arugula salad (just for a little green), the fried brussel sprouts (not sure if you can consider those green in their state of fried perfection), gnocchi (swimming in a delicious cream sauce), shrimp, & veal sliders. Then there were the I wanted them all to myself chicken meatballs, so nice and spicy that even I didn't have to reach for the red peppers. Not one item was a miss, oh and they give you all the delicious bread you want to go with everything.
As I mentioned, I really wanted to like this place since we live just down the street. Sometimes we can only get out for a short period and its great to have something close by, between two kids and two businesses can't always drive into DC for restaurants. Can't wait to get back because the one thing we did not try last night was the pizza.

Sugo Cichetti is brought to us by the owners of Cava, in partnership with the owners of Mamma Lucia. Hence the small plates meets Italian concept. I like Cava quite a bit (except for the fact that it’s usually unbearably loud). But another addition to the Rockville dining scene, which recently welcomed Founding Farmers, is fine with me.
