Pollo Grounds. I think this place is more Guatemalan than Mexican. You will feel like the gringo that you are in this place, and that is part of the fun and adventure. I don't recognize anything on the jukebox, and I don't want to. Been twice with two different friends and we both enjoyed it both times. Couldn't tell you exactly what we had, but it was saucy, spicy, and plentiful. A great way to forget that you are in New England. Feels more like El-Ay Holmes.
We got the Mi Ranchito platter for 2: grilled chicken, beef, pork adobado, with 4 sides for each person. Great portion size (had leftovers!). All the meats and sides were well seasoned. The grilled meats were still juicy and came freshly hot on a skillet plate. Only issue was the waitress not being attentive as usual. I personally prefer a server not to come by every once in a while, so it didn't hurt my personal experience. Food-wise and ambiance, great!
We had a great time at Mi Ranchito. They specialize in fajitas but offer a wide variety of other menu items from Central America. I had the carne asada fajita and it came with a generous and delicious helping of beef. The side had a plate full of lettuce, rice, and refried beans. Be sure to ask for a basket of homemade tortillas. They were outstanding. Parking is available but limited and no alcohol is served. But, the orchata is to die for.
