A honest conversation...
I went into Nonnas on 3/10/2016 at about 8:45PM to get a pizza for carry out. I live in the area and witnessed the insanity of Saturday, March 5th, both in driving by the area and seeing the traffic jams and in stopping to get something from Danny's next door. We had tried their pizza earlier and it was spectacular, especially considering that there is nothing of any good quality pizza in the area. Herein is the problem - a great pizza moves in... people mass to the location.
I read many of the comments regarding long wait times, misquoted wait times, and the issue where they shut down orders. If this place just served pizzas, I might be more concerned, but having worked in the industry many years and knowing how a mass influx that is unexpected can mess up order timing, I understood. They serve pastas, desserts, salads, etc. and is a much more expansive menu than I would have expected from a place in a minuscule space comparatively.
Now, let's get to my visit... the owners just happened to be in the lobby reading Facebook posts and trying to respond as best as they could. They had a lot of staff working and the place had a pleasant atmosphere and demeanor from the staff. I casually mentioned Saturday and they were eager to chat. We spoke about the unexpected influx, the learning curve of the staff, and the bottlenecks from carryout. A new place always needs a time of adjustment and while they explained they were ready for a good rush, they had no idea the massive onslaught of people and continual phone orders. They fell behind, then orders were hard to time with things other than pizza, then more people came and the phone kept ringing. People were disappointed in wait times, ordering, etc. and they made a decision that many owners might not - they stopped taking orders. Not because they wanted to or to alienate anyone, but because the worst thing an owner can do is continually cause problems with customers or put out bad product. They were on a three hour wait and people that had ordered and been told an hour were still waiting because it got that busy. But, people waited... why?
THE FOOD IS SPECTACULAR. Yes, I read that there were some order mixups, but they are trying their best to compensate and to contact each person who commented. They will grow and they will adapt - the place will get more manageable. The best part... the owners TRULY care. They spoke with me at length about the place, the challenges and their vision. They were wonderful and passionate and they WILL bring great food to an area that desperately needs it. THANK YOU!

The best!! Great service, great food and simply the best pizza in Caledonia!
Wings and lasagna are awesome too
I was excited to see a pizza restaurant open in Sturtevant. Tried it tonight for the first time. Seriously the best Pizza I’ve had around here since I’ve moved to Racine. Excellent Crust and sauce. Looking forward to trying the other items on the menu. I would definitely get their pizza again.
Just picked up a pie ot two for lunch! Amazing home run pizza, for those curious about saurkraut or pickles on pizza, this pie will have you falling in love!!! The dynamic of flavors will have you begging for more! I feel like I'm eating a brat at the ball game in my own backyard!!!
Best pizza on the north side of Racine. Calzones are ridiculously large and excellent.
