Awesome place. Small. Quaint and just downright badass. Janey (spelling ?) was awesome on bar and the place is cool. Stays open late. Great sushi variety also good non sushi bar food for the non sushi types. Beer list is good and they have amusing videos on the projectors. All in all it's a great small, quaint not "fufu" place to have good sushi, maki and beer. Don't pass it up. We stayed an extra night just to have another beer here. No regrets. Great music. :-)

I totally parked my butt at the bar and drank water and a bunch of pineapple juice on Christmas Day. There were no evil eyes from the bartenders. I would’ve expected grumps since I was taking prime real estate and not getting shwasted. Cranked out some really successful pages in my sketchbook. Returned the next day to actually eat. I didn’t feel like being bothered with making decisions on sushi. I challenge the bar to come up with a strictly vegan meal for under 20. Results were phenomenal.

Great meal and service was excellent! Everything was great except the wobbly tables- just a minor issue. Got a bucket of tots, ribs, lettuce wraps and tofu bites for aps, drinks, tuna bites for dinner, and the fabulous rolls. Tons of vegan options! Hostess was beautiful and friendly- even when I broke an empty on the floor by accident!

Atmosphere: a mix between classic American diner/bar with Asian elements. Overall friendly and casual vibe Service: friendly servers with quality recommendations. Very polite and prompt. Food: gyoza was 3/5. Taphouse brewery had better dumplings. The sticky balls were very very good. Snap, crackle, pop roll was decent. Definitely recommend their tempura/fries rolls over the traditional ones.

I love the vibes this restaurant carries. The staff are always exceptionally outstanding in their service. The food is also good if there are dietary restrictions or sensitivities (vegan or gluten free). They accommodate when you inform the staff. The sushi and other meals here are also incredibly good! I love coming to this restaurant. They have me hooked.

Haven't been in years, but just as good as we remembered. Sticky balls and Fantabulous Amazing Roll are awesome!

My family and I patronized this place and it was utterly delicious. As a family, we ordered chili calamari, Gyoza, sticky wings, and sticky balls as an appetizer. The sticky wings were amazing. I ordered the Mongolian beef bowl and that was delicious as well. My husband wanted the Korean hotdog, but they were out. Other than that. We enjoyed our meal.

Great place to come for late night dinner or snacks. The sushi is not the best but honest. Appetizers are great option to share. They could improve their beer selection, though. In addiction, I think their dinner entrees are delicious. Beware of the spiciness level. Also, the service is quick. However, if you don’t like crowded and loud this my not be a good option.

Sticky Rice was fantastic. It was a short wait on a very cold night and a neat small spot. We started out with the Vodka Limeade that was very refreshing and probably amazing before the vodka. We then ordered the trademark tater tots, veggie wraps, the Garden Balls (I think, I cant quite remember!) and Veganzilla Rolls. I would rate both rolls extremely highly and was pleasantly surprised at how great they tasted. I will definitely try this spot again but probably leave out the tater tots simply because it’s an incredibly large portion much too big for any two normal people to finish off.

Excellent, friendly service! We enjoyed everything we ordered. Managed to snag an evening special: $1 PBRs because it was raining! I had never tried hot sake before and the house one was tasty! I've been here before on a weekend, pre-covid when it was packed, poppin', line down the street to get in, to enjoy the beverages and old school tunes-- singing, dancing! What a good time/memory! I have also been here for dinner on weeknight when it wasn't busy. Different vibes depending on the crowd! 😄 But the food and drinks are always good, no matter the crowd! Sticky Rice is an establishment all Richmonders and visitors must try at some point. 🙂🍙🍣

If you attend VCU or live near the area and haven't gotten drinks (maybe too many) at Sticky Rice, are you even living? It's a great example of a local fun, RVA bar and sushi place. Good menu cocktails, house sake, and beer selection. The specialty rolls are BIG. One roll normally does the trick. I can attest that the bowls are also great tasting, healthy, and well portioned. We spent $90 here on a bowl, 2 rolls, and 7 drinks (had to buy 5 shots for the birthday party behind us, that danced with my wife and made the night!) Plus 20% tip. Totally worth it. The Godzilla roll lives up to its name and is tasty!

Used to come here often when I lived in RVA. Stopped by for the first time in years for the Monday night half of sushi and got my favorite Sticky Balls. Glad to see they were still delicious as they always had been. Go check it out if you're in the neighborhood, great little bar! And they have buckets of Tater Tots, which you'll love after a few drinks.
