I came here last night, and it has a dive bar vibe. Several people were sitting in the bar area and getting their night started early. Meanwhile, I only stopped by for a drink and saw this online through my quick search. The bar has good drinks, and they're affordable (for once)! My dog was with me, so I sat outside in their patio area. It was spacious, too. I would come here again with my friends for a chill, dive bar feel.
It's a wonderful place to let your hair down and enjoy some good music whether it's from the jukebox on the beautiful patio or inside from a live band. I've been meeting a friend of mine there lately and just getting acquainted with the place. The girl behind the bar is very friendly and took really good care of us. Patio is beautiful and the music is good. Looking forward to my next visit.
This is a bit of a mix between a bar and a restaurant (they have a bar but also table service.) There is a large patio as well. The food menu is pretty typical pub fare and everything we tried was good. They also offer bottomless mimosas or bloody Marys on Sundays.
Fun time had by ALL; especially me! I will return.
The Great Grizzly Bear is the best bar in Soulard by far!
The owner - Derek, has assembled an impressive bar with an excellent collection of bourbon and other whiskeys and has a remarkable palate and knack to accommodate anyone from the
novice to the hardcore whiskey enthusiasts.
Natasha and the other employees there are all friendly, personable and professional.
They have a great outdoor patio and the vibe inside is warm and welcoming. We did not eat here, but the food we saw being delivered to other tables looked delicious. I highly recommend experiencing this place!
My wife and I stopped here with our dog, and simply loved it! There's an entrance by the back for people who have their dogs with them. It takes you straight to their amazing patio out back. Nick and Jessica were taking care of us, but we also got to meet the new owner, John. He was very friendly, helpful, and proud (and for good reason). He, his wife, and sister have really cleaned up and redecorated the place, with much more to come.
The ambiance, staff, service, drink selection, and food were all amazing. We shared the crispy cheese curds, chopped salad, and fish + chips. Of the three, the salad was the best, but they were all really fantastic and freshly prepared.
Great service. Delicious happy hour appetizers perfect for warming up on a cold day. Dog friendly patio. Reasonable prices.
Went on the first Wednesday of the month for the comedy show. Had a great time. Our server was great. Megan Tweedie, the host and a comedian did an awesome job!
4 stars since they sold us the kitchen “closed at 830” at 815, while according to other staff and the website it closed at 9. So that was a bummer.
But big outdoor patio with a little over the top bartender but overall not a bad time or crowd

It never seem to amaze me when I visit anywhere in Soulard. It's a place all it's own. I grew up in Soulard and I feel I was bless in so many ways. Soulard is located well south of downtown with it being close to the hood but far from the rift raft. I was able to walk about a mile when I was a kid and never seem to far from home in the 70's and 80's being a kid was so much more then these days and the kids these days are being cheated out of all the fun things that being a kid makes growing up worth while. It's sad really kids these days raise their self with TV and games computer and smart phones. I wish it was more like when I was a kid
