I stopped by for lunch with my friend, daughter and my friend's son in law to have "Greek" food. My friend's son right away said "I don't like Greek food" even though he has never tried it. Once he had a bite of the beef Gyro, he told me when are we coming back. The food was great, the employees were friendly and the price was reasonable. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Good Mediterranean food. I have had it as carry out once, and many times catered at meetings, all the food has always been good. Fresh pita, nicely grilled meats and good sides. Everything is fresh and tasty, I recommend trying it.
Papouli’s is proof that healthy food tastes great. You don’t have to choose between taste and health.
I have eaten lunch here several times and had great food every time. This is a counter service place, and sometimes I have to wait a few minutes for them to take my order, but that’s because they are all madly filling other orders.
On my last visit I was especially hungry and tried the Build Your Plate option. I had the gyro meat and shrimp, whole wheat pita, Greek salad, and Tabouli. Everything was fresh and delicious. The Tabouli is bright, fresh, and loaded with parsley. As such it is spot-on for authentic, but that’s a lot of parsley for my taste. If you love Tabouli or parsley, you will love this.
Whenever I am in this part of town around lunch time, I’ll probably end up in here. Note that parking is extremely tight and sometimes challenging.
Maybe the best Greek chicken kebob ever. Great salad too.
The Basil Infused Feta spread is spectacular!. I'm not sure how I could have lived in the San Antonio area for several years and never eaten at Papouli's. A mistake I was fortunately able to correct today.
A friend recommended the Papouli's Tapas (Hummus sampler) which comes with a choice of 3 of their 6 different flavors of hummus and spreads. I chose the Traditional Hummus and the Jalapeno Fire Hummus which were both excellent, as well as the Basil Infused Feta spread which was spectacular. I was a little leery of the otherworldly green hue of the Basil Hummus, but one bite cleared up any hesitation I was experiencing. Truly a highlight.
For my main course I chose a traditional Gyro sandwich with lamb gyro meat. The "Chicago style" white pita for both the sandwich and the Hummus sampler was extremely soft and probably the best I've ever had. I'm told the wheat pita isn't nearly as delicious, but I suppose that's generally true of any white/wheat comparison.
The gyro sandwich comes with a choice of side and I selected the homemade fresh cut french fries that rivaled most any great burger restaurant I've visited. All the other foods, salads, even burgers I saw on other tables looked excellent as well.
Papouli's definitely exceeded my expectations and I'll certainly plan a return trip in the near future.
Good gyro and fries for around ten bucks
I went tonight for the first time and was very happy with my dinner. Everything was fresh, and the cous cous was great!
Great food. My whole family loves it here. The salads are fresh and tasty, the pita is soft, and the chicken and steak are full of flavor ( and the kababs are all meat ). The jalepeno hummus is amazing, and if you join their club for free, it is a real money saver. Plus, they send out regular $$$ saving emails on rainy days, election day, etc. it is a great place to enjoy tasty, not heavy, Greek food! Oh, and the staff has always been delightful, too!
LOVE IT.. I remember trying this restaurant a few years back and thinking it was mediocre. I started coming back about 6 months ago, and WOW, I find myself CRAVING it now. I don't know how "authentic" it is, but the food is just plain amazing. And the staff is ALWAYS so friendly, especially management. I love walking in there and being treated like they actually WANT me there and appreciate my business. The Greco Roman Pita with pasta salad is to die for. LOVE.
Yummy. I have been going off an on to this location since they have opened. The food is really good the prices are fair compared to that other place that start's with a "D", however, we won't say that name here. I recently took my dad here and he has been converted from the "other" place. Perfect place to go to kill the craving for some Greek food. I have been to the Huebner location and the Quarry location and I have never been disappointed.
The food was full of flavor, and the pita bread was undeniably the best I've ever tasted. Soft and warm.
It's self-serve, but there are still waiters on the floor ready to accommodate your needs. My family and I were there over an hour just catching up with our lives and enjoying the food. They never tried to rush us out or get rid of us in a hurry. They treated us well. Which is always appreciated. We'll be back again soon. Thank you for everything.
Ok Papollis...What happened. This time was an epic fail on my take out order. I ordered to go for my family. I was so tired, long work week- looking forward to good food but when I got my order home, it was missing many items like my cucumbers, pita bread for my hummus. Yes had to eat the hummus with out. And extra feta cheese that I probably paid extra for was not in my bag either. The fries were burned to a crisp that came with the burgers. Not even edible. And the worst part was you forgot my tzatziki sauce in my yia yia plate. I wish I could say this was the first time fail but it isn't. I was just hoping order take out would have improved. So disappointed.
I had the Greco Roman gyro with fresh cut fries. Very good food and nice serving for the price. It explains why it was busy. You won’t be disappointed.
Came here for my birthday, everything was great! Tried the feast I believe it was called. Soooo delicious! Tried a Nutella brownie for dessert and that was equally as good
The restaurant itself is nothing special as far as atmosphere but the food was definitely terrific and fresh. Service was quick and with a smile. I'll go back again to meet with friends when I want my Greek fix!
Had not been here in almost 5 years. Decided to go for it with a friend. Tried something different than the usual Gyro. Their Burgers are really tasty. Not to mention quite the portion size. I will be getting it again when I return.
Another wonderful spot for some good med style food. Their lamb burger is top notch, and the fries are tasty. It's definitely worth a trip if in the area
Ordered Sunday take out.
Chose 2 Lunch Specials (11-4:00) Lamb Gyro, with side and salad! Filled us up half way. Good amount of food, very light yet very filling ! I highly suggest the Lamb Gyros.
Great service, very nice cashier, affordable. Will definitely going back again. This was our first visit.
Altho we did see that some prices online were different than prices in store.
They have the BEST salad, good olives, and a bunch of flavor, I love Greek foodso this is a huge win for me. I see the bad reviews but yea if they got a salad or the puff pastrys then they wouldve left good reviews.
I've seen A LOT of places add too many different flavors to tzatziki sauce but if someone doesnt like this they dont like tzatziki in the first place they need ranch instead.
One of the best gyros I’ve ever had, probably the best in SA!! Food was all super fresh and tasted superb, staff is friendly & very welcoming. Found our new Greek spot. Management is on top of it here!!
