I love this place!!!! I take alll my family when they visit me, my fave is the “El Molcajete” it is the bomb!!!! Saids for two but feeds like three, so good from the atmosphere, mariachi, food & drinks, you won’t be disappointed, worth the wait in line then you walk old town to walk off the food
I was in old town 4 some work, I service most of S D but I rarely get down to this area, I took a quick stroll down the blvd hungery for authentic mexican food, I chose this place on a whim, I figured it would either be really bad or really good, I was not disappointed, I chose the chilaquiles con huevos & BAMMMMM they were on point! Just like tia used 2 make, arguably the best I've ever had, I got a healthy portion that I snacked on for the rest of the day I will definitely be back, The service, A young man was really nice & engaged in conversation Needles 2 say I tipped fat, I tipped close 2 the equivalent of my meal!
Love this place! Great Mexican Food and outstanding Service... Love the freshly made Corn & Flour Tortillas. Good selection of Food and even Healthy Selections too! (First time I've seen "Soy Chorizo" on any Menu.) Selection of Margaritas good also. When visiting Old Town, stop by to eat, you won't be disappointed!!
Great street tacos with hand pressed tortillas. The shrimp and octopus cocktail and tostada supreme were crazy big. Came in hungry but ended up taking half of the tostada home. Go early for lunch as the line up was down the block by the time we left.
Had a quick late lunch here. Skipped the one hour wait by finding seats in the bar area. Linda the server was quick, helpful and efficient. Recommended the chicken verde enchiladas as we wanted something lighter. Washed down with cold beers, was delightful and tasty - not overly salty. Guacamole dip was ok, but we prefer it chunkier. Live mariachi music playing nearby in restaurant added to the vibrant ambiance. Washroom was relatively clean, a nice plus! Place was packed at 2 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon - obviously popular. Would return and sit at the bar again for a quick bite. $41 before tax.
The chorizo craving was satisfied! OTMC doesn’t skimp on the chorizo con huevos. The portion was huge and delicious. It’s mildly spicy, so ask for the house salsa. It’s served with beans and rice and two house made flour tortillas. The service is quick and friendly. Try OTMC.
Was looking for a good place for lunch on my visit to old town. This was mentioned as one of the top place. They had waiting for 10 minutes but later the service was pretty fast. Food was good and really fresh but portions are small compared to other mex8can place
Great place! Live mariachi music, authentic Mexican food the salsa, tortillas, shrimp enchiladas everything was amazing! Would definitely recommend
Multiple visits while sitting at the bar and ordering dinner have all been extremely enjoyable.
The service is always good, the food exceptional. During a recent visit I had the Mexican shrimp cocktail and a chili relleno with a side of their amazing tortillas.
The taco salad and Mariscada pictured are both in a class of their own. While I'm no expert on Mexican food. this place never disappoints.
We ordered the Ranchero Steak Special. It was a small cast iron skillet of steak, onion, and peppers in tomato sauce with rice and bean on the side. The house made tortillas were absolutely delicious, warm and soft. The unsweetened iced tea was brewed and fresh. The prices were reasons and portions just right.
Fun atmosphere. I ordered the battered shrimp tacos - a Sunday special and my spouse ordered the street tacos.
Rice and beans were great, only one shrimp per taco (kind of skimpy if you ask me) but the manager asked the cook to grab me some more. Great customer service.
The street tacos were all amazing! Meat cooked to perfection.
First meal I had in San Diego, so not much to compare it with. However, since eating in other restaurants in the area, this is definitely my favourite.
I had the carne asada, which was tender, juicy and very rare, just how I like it. The refried beans are the best I've had since being here, and their habanero salsa also the best (and I'm a scotch bonnet/habanero queen).
Service was fab, my waitress was lovely, and I enjoyed a few margaritas with some random locals after my meal. Loved it!
The chops are thick but not taste the salsa is good. Good hot coffee, good servings, quick service and hand made tortillas. Good spot for breakfasts. Visit this place if your at old town San Diego
They were making tortillas from scratch and our tacos tasted good. The kids also had a great time choosing from the kids menu. I wouldn't say it's the best mexican I have had but it was decent for the area.
We got the carnitas plate and the rolled potato rolls. The food was pretty solid but there was no hot sauce and it wasn't super flavorful. The tortillas, however, is phenomenal. Sooo fresh and delicious.
Had a fabulous spicy margarita while we waited for a table. Server made excellent recommendations, & even advised us when he thought we would be ordering too much food. Enjoyed the chips & salsa as well. Definitely recommend & would love to try breakfast, too.
Amazing food! Excellent service. It's one of my favorite restaurants. I love it. ❤️ Highly recommended.
It’s an alright place to eat.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. A joyful wait staff during the lunch hour we visited.
The food was good.
The chips are not too my liking, but they were crisp. Also, they were not greasy, but they seemed factory made, which is not of the highest grade at a typical Mexican restaurant in the area.
The tacos were delicious, fajitas were delicious and the chicken mole amazingly delicious. Great food.
The tables were, unfortunately, on the dirty side. The floors were disgusting. If they cleaned to a higher standard and refreshed the furnishings - it would be significantly better restaurant- good to great.
Great food with homemade tortillas. A bit loud due to crowds at the bar but the food is the best
The food was amazing here!! To start, the chips and salsa were fantastic! The salsa was almost my favorite part of the meal. Then, we ordered two virgin strawberry daiquiris, which were delicious. They came with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry on top, as well as whipped cream.
For food, we ordered a side of rolled beef tacos, and 5 street tacos. They tasted so good, and with the sour cream and guacamole from the rolled tacos, we were able to greatly improve the street tacos, which originally only had meat, onions, and cilantro on them.
Overall, everything was delicious, and I would highly recommend going here!!
Side note: the bathrooms are extremely clean. and nice.
I got the Minero plate! Absolutely amazing. We literally went at the perfect time in the morning. Everyone was helping us, everything came in a timely manner, and the food was an explosion of flavors. I highly recommend this for a great experience. Attached should be photos of the menu as well as my plate!
This place is amazing for Mexican food in San Diego, CA. It has that cafe in California vibe that is amazing, the waiter was nice to us and he deserved a tip, the food was full of flavor and I loved the large fluffy made in house flour tortillas, I would love to visit again! Totally recommend as best Mexican in San Diego, CA. Overall 10/10
