We were welcomed by the nicest people in the area, they greeted us with smiles and showed us to our table. The food was also exceptional and fresh, our deep fried ground pork and crab roll, roasted duck red curry and cashew chicken came piping hot, and all the dishes were absolutely delicious! The price point is also quite good, as most dishes comes with rice or noodles. There are a total of 7 tables inside, so it is cozy and gives off a neighborhood vibe. They were all so great even greeting us as we left. We will definitely come back to try more.

I don't normally write reviews—just out of sheer laziness—but I came away feeling so pleased by my experience here that I am compelled to give these guys their fair shrift. You walk in, and the kitchen and all the kitchen staff are right there, in full view on your right side: immediately you are hit with the smells and sights of food being prepared by people who are clear and obvious professionals. Sizzling chicken is being placed upon the service counter, perfectly placed at chest level for you to see and smell. These guys are visual and olfactory machiavellians — and when it comes to the food game, I respect that. Just as you are taking this all in, the host greets you. He takes you past the kitchen to a small rectangular room, perfectly laid out with maybe eight tables. The false brick pattern on the walls is a comforting shade of red-brown, the tables are dark stained wood with a glossy clean finish. On this rainy day, the skylight above gently bathes the room with just the right amount of natural light. The waitress gives me and my girlfriend our menus. I chose my meal immediately, roast duck soup. She is vegan, so it takes a little bit of time to infer what might work for her. The waitress comes back, and my girlfriend inquires about vegan possibilities — they quickly sort it out and our food arrives promptly. I observe immediately that these people are serious. On the first sip of duck soup broth, my eyes close involuntarily as my taste buds soak up the golden flavor. My girlfriend was very happy with her soup as well, some kind of yellow coconut curry with mushrooms, veggies, and tofu. The food had a really succulent pop to it while also having a warm, flavorful quality. As we got up and left, we thanked the kitchen staff and they responded all with smiles. What a great experience. For background, this restaurant used to be owned by the same people who owned King’s Thai #2 (also on Clement). There’s new ownership now, but I think the chef is the same (I might be wrong). In any case, I would describe this place as a hidden-gem hole-in-the-wall with great prices for *incredible* food. You better get to it before it gets “discovered” by those upper-middle-class connoisseurs of life who write for food columns and online blogs. The vultures will circle, and lines will form around the the block. Dare I say, this is the kind of place Bourdain would have liked: small, simple, affordable, and succulent. I wish them the greatest success moving forward.

My life is changed. Coming to the area for a competitor Thai place around the corner, we were sad to discover they were take out only. Our misfortune was indeed short lived as we discovered Nakorn was mere feet around the corner. When I walked in confirming the right place, I was met with the first joyful face of many throughout our visit. Every item ordered was better than text book Thai. The creamy yet light broth of the tom ka gai was smooth and delicate. The pad Thai was properly sauced and seasoned, NOT DRIED OUT!!! But the winner of the evening has to be the pumpkin curry with chicken. If you want a feeling of thanksgiving without the stress of the entire feast, come enjoy the warm atmosphere and staff here. 100/10 recommend.

Honestly the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted. The customer service here was great, super friendly staff. Onto the food, we ordered two dishes: Shrimp pad Thai, this was the best pad Thai I’ve ate. The sauce wasn’t too strong and tasted authentic. I hoped it would have a little spice kick but it didn’t, but still delicious. Peanut curry with rice, this was a new dish to me but sounded appetizing. The curry was rich with flavour and I will definitely be returning here again soon !

Guys this is a review from a couple that lived in Bangkok. The only difference was that the dishes were not as spicy as they are in Bangkok but that is because in Bangkok there's a higher tolerance for spicy, other than that amazing dishes highly recommended. For all the plates you see we paid $107. AMAZING !!!!

Wonderful!! Delicious and authentic flavors!! Highest quality food and service! Warm and attentive staff make you feel like you’ve been friends for twenty years!! Noodle soup with fall apart tender chunks of flavorful beef and a broth that you can’t stop eating! Nam tok (spicy beef salad) and larb moo (spicy ground pork) will feed your soul! Will definitely make this place my #1 stop every time we’re in SF!!

Came here after a long day at Outsidelands. The food was amazing. It definitely hit the spot. I’m glad I found this place. I’ll be coming back when I’m in the area again.

10/21/13: The restaurant had rebranded as Nakorn Thai. The menu appears to be largely the same. It seems the chef is still the same. Time will tell if the new place is ale to carry on the good reputation of the old restaurant from King's Thai #1🙂. #1.The.Food.is.Amazing.🍜👏🌈🦄🇹🇭🇺🇸🤩 Don't need to take my words for it. Give it a try yourself🎉. 2023 update: New ownership, same great taste 👍🎉🙌

Probably the best Thai food in the city. Casual no frills atmosphere but the food is delicious. They will accommodate vegan requests too. Service is excellent and they take credit cards.
