A cute neighborhood bakery that smells amazing (butter and sugar... duh). Famous for their mochissants (which were only soso), we went for the pork kouign amanns for my mom and the mango sticky rice for me. Would absolutely go back for those!!
Today I just had the best Shepherds Pie. Against all odds it came from outside my shopping bubble. Three months ago I happened to visit “Rolling Out Cafe” to pick up a pastry on my friends insistence, if it’s open, if there is anything left, if you can remember the name of the place. We met the owner/baker and I asked for Gluten Free Shepherd’s Pie, he said yes, call a day ahead and he would make it. This guy is so cool. Fast forward my other cool friend brought me the GF Shepherd’s Pie. Perfecto! Savory, meaty, carrots and green bean, mash potato, the GF crust was awesome not funky.
One of the best bakeries in San Francisco! Bruno is a great guy, and is always super friendly. You can't go wrong with the pastries, no matter what you get. My personal favorite is the strawberry mochi croissant, but the Uber egg tarts are also an amazing treat. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the area! 100/10 :)
Rolling Out Cafe isn't your ordinary corner cafe on Taraval but a creative bakery and keeps me coming back for its interesting pastries.
Featuring Asian flavors such as matcha, black sesame, Thai tea, ube, Rolling Out Cafe combines the subtle sweetness of Asian treats and the delicate texture of croissant and egg tart into something really fun for the tastebud. Try their Thai tea mochissant, or mango sticky rice kouign amann, or ube egg tart, or even just the goat cheese croissant. I also like the "mini" size of their pastries so I can really enjoy my guilty pleasures.
There are plenty of other items on the menu but the lovely pastries are all that I have had so far. The owner is genuine and down-to-earth, always offering friendly and no-frills service.
A hidden gem in SF. I walked in this cafe just because I'd bought something nearby and saw the raving reviews.
OMG the minute I look at what the ( very nice) owner had , I knew I was in for a treat... mocha sesame balls, Portuguese custard tarts, kouign amman. I mean the latter are difficult to get even in Paris! And he had them! And of mango!! The custard tarts were to die for. I'm Portuguese so I know the real thing! Both filling and pastry were perfection! Owner is also the 'patissiere'. He's hyper nice. You need to go to this place!
Like this place a lot!! The quiche is so big and yummy. They have many other options too, will definitely come back. Sidenote: they have their parents for mochi + croissant 🥐 and mochi + biscuits on the wall
Delicious and creative croissants, plus great service. They have the patent for the mochisant in the pastry window, which is fun. I’m amazed there isn’t a line out the door.
