This place was a little hidden jam. It's not blatantly obvious and easy to find but if you park it b Street parking lot in San Rafael and walk up the street it's right there. I got a steak sandwich similar to a bistec sandwich from soul Food and it was good. I also got an Inca cola which was delicious.
Food was excellent and plated beautifully. The sauces accompanying each entree was so good that some of us ate it with a spoon.
Service was very attentive without being overbearing. I enjoyed the decor which was simple and clean. The prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the food and I will come back whenever I am in San Rafael. Overall there was little to quibble about. If you want to experience authentic Peruvian cuisine El Perol is the place to eat.
Delicious Peruvian food ! Ceviche is a must try.
Really enjoyed the food here and the service (early Saturday evening) was fast and friendly. The fish ceviche was done perfectly. The Papa Rellena stuffed potato was great and something we had not had before. Prices are reasonable. Not much to look at from the outside, but homey and clean on the inside.
Went here for lunch with my mom, she's a great Peruvian cook and loves going to Peruvian restaurants. She said this place was good. She was right! left fulfilled and satisfied after having el seco de cordero. Very generous portions and great taste. Ceviche de pescado was good as well not too spicy, a little bit too much juice though. They didn't have anticuchos today, I guess they don't usually even if it's on the menu. Next time I want to try el pan con chicharron! Looks bomb here. Will be back.

Its Great Peruvian Food, better than many in Sonoma County. The Meat is seasoned well, the Rice is Great and the Service is the Best I've had in Months. The Prices are a bit higher, $12 to $18 on average. But worth it.

The restaurant that Marin has needed! El Perol is an excellent Peruvian spot worth multiple visits. As someone with a Peruvian father who knows what the food should taste like, I must say the ceviche to the seco were awesome. A place I definitely recommend.
Really great, true Peruvian food. The place is non-assuming, but service was great and food very true to tradition. Had the mixed ceviche and chicken with rice, beans and salad. Just the way you'd get them in any home in Lima.
We were on our way to another restaurant, but the lines snaking around the block put us off. Looked at the menu here and decided to try it. They had yucca listed under the appetizers and we love yucca!! Sadly, they were out of yucca....
This is a family run place with good home cooking. The prices were reasonable and the portions generous. Try the Papa Rellena and the Chicharron Pescado. The fish was delicious and very fresh; the portion more than enough for two or three people to share.
Skip the cake with the caramel filling (as it was very dry) and try something else. This place has potential to be on your go to list of neighborhood restaurants.
