One of, if not THE absolute best sushi places in Santa Cruz. The sushi, specialty rolls, bento meals and "sake bombs" are out of this world! The place (in physical size) is kind of small, so expect a wait even on some random Tuesday night, but it's worth it. Beautiful art and cool skateboard designs on the walls, but mostly, it's the staff. The hostesses, waitresses, sushi chefs, bus staff etc are friendly, experienced and incredibly pleasant. I recently moved around the corner and I am so excited to be so nearby. In less than two months I've already been there 4 times. I couldn't recommend this delightful yet small restaurant enough. Two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
Besides the fact the hostess stated it would be an hour wait.. I laughed so hard it made me forget about dinner!! My date mentioned that the teriyaki steak was what he was waiting for.. Not too sure if we did wait for an hour.. but it was well worth it!! I had the hamachi collar and the Bahama roll. Accompanied with miso soup, we ordered sparkling sake to top it off. One of the most enjoyable times ever! Our server is beautiful! She was so accomodating! I'll have to get her name next time. We enjoyed every bite! Definitely on the top for sushi/sake time!
Lively sushi spot in Santa Cruz that was pretty busy for a weeknight and not too loud where you couldn't enjoy a conversation with your companions. The rolls we had tried here that were our favs are the Soquel Avenue and the Akira Roll. I also had the Nigi Combo, it was very good but not the best I've had, you won't go wrong here either way.
Service here was excellent, our waiters tended to us and made sure our drinks were always full and that we enjoyed our meals. Would definitely come back again if looking for sushi in the area.
Hands down best sushi place I've been to in the area. The Kind roll was sooo delicious. I also got an order of the shrimp dumplings and they were too good. Definitely will dine here again and soon.
Delicious (and massive!) sushi rolls! Came here for lunch during the weekday and ate at the bar. I got the Natural Bridges roll, Oishi roll and the cucumber sunomono. All tasted so good! The roll pieces were a little too big for me but I made it work.
Placed was packed when we arrived, waited around 40 minutes, but it was worth it! Started with the Gem of Akira, highly recommend this avocado deliciousness. Then we moved on to The Kind and Dynamite rolls - both equally great. Check it out, just be prepared to wait!
The sushi rolls have generous portions of fish, which is great considering many sushi spots have maintained or even raised prices but lowered the amount of fish and ingredients inside of rolls. On a Sunday night around 7:30PM the wait time was around 20 minutes. We were seated at the bar and it was a fun experience to watch the chefs make the rolls.
The food was good but their service was not. Getting the menu to the table took forever, and the orders arrived to the table very slow.
