This was an impromptu stop for dinner and the place is the epitome of “Old School” Italian. Red naugahyde, dark wood, and low lighting are the hallmarks of this place. I actually like this vibe, but as I’ve mentioned before, we generally sit at the bar, and by 5pm on Monday the bar was full. My particular seat had a pole on the right and a lamp in front of me that was attached and so I felt quite squeezed. Also my bar stool was wobbly and lopsided. Other than that, the place seemed a little old and in need of a little sprucing but that makes sense, since it’s been there for 42 years. It is definitely a local favorite and you could tell.
The service at the bar was excellent. JJ the bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. He gave us great suggestions on the extensive menu.
We opted for roasted peppers and Calamari for apps. Both were amazing. We had the Cesar salad for 2 (they can’t make it tableside at the bar - but usually do) the Cesar was incredible. The dressing was light and very flavorful - just the way I like it 😍
My man had the cioppino which had great flavor and a lot of seafood. He did wish they had a crusty piece of Italian bread for dipping. They did have nice rolls but he would have preferred the prior. I had the filet with mushrooms and it was perfectly cooked, very tender and amazing flavor. Excellent! So, overall great great impromptu dinner. Highly recommend.
In 2022 my wife and I visited Los Angeles. My wife had done a lot of research regarding restaurants and decided to dine at Vito late one Saturday night. I’m so glad we did. The food was delicious and the ambience was perfect. I felt like I could turn around and see Humphrey Bogart or Frank Sinatra in the booth next to me. In fact, a year later in the summer of 2023, we decided to visit Los Angeles again with family. So of course we had to visit Vito once again, and it was absolutely delicious. I hope to go back again one day.
Tip: Spaghetti Della Casa is the best pasta dish I have ever had! (And start your meal with the Caesar salad—don’t skip dessert either!)
Moody, romantic Italian restaurant with delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly service! Absolutely love it here.
If you want to feel as if you've stepped back in time, in the very best of ways, enjoy a meal at Vito's. Hit the bar first for delicious martini. Then head over to your table and enjoy some delicious chicken parm, or any of the other delicious dishes. Don't miss ordering the cold crisp caesar salad. Vito's is an old school gem of an establishment. Hopefully this place will be around another 50 years!
This is a nice Italian restaurant in Santa Monica by the business park. The atmosphere is old school and cozy and they have a nice outdoor area too. The food is really good and there are a good variety of dishes. I had the zuppa di pesce which was delicious - a must try! The service was great quick and prompt. And don't forget to have the bread! So definitely a great place to visit!
Vito strikes again!! I've been to both Mother Wolf and Felix in the past month, and can confidently say that Vito has BETTER pasta than both these places! I didn't even know it was possible to make gnocchi with as light and pillowy a texture as Vito does, and the pesto sauce is the creamiest and most delectable that's ever graced these tastebuds. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and fits right in with the cozy Italian atmosphere (though it can get a little loud in the main dining room). Vito himself also assured me that the entire menu is keto and gluten friendly-- I don't know how they do it! Anyone looking for a 5 star classic Italian meal must come here.
The food is exceptionally delicious. The service was impeccable. The ambience was perfect. My husband and I can’t wait to go back with our friends and family. We totally recommend this amazing restaurant.
Highly recommended. No hipster vibe but a classy local establishment. I had no idea about this hidden gem. Great service , full bar, perfectly spaced seating
They do not have a kid menu but they were able to make a small butter pasta dish for my young one
We will be back for sure!

A group of ten of us went to
Vito’s for my birthday dinner. We were a loud group laughing and having a good time. Most of us started the meal off with an espresso martini. We then ordered appetizers the mozzarella marinara, calamari fritti and the barrata and prosciutto were excellent. We ordered the Cesar salad too but it didn’t come out so I took a way a star for that. But the food was excellent!!! My group loved their food we ordered chicken parm special, linguine and clams, lasagna, branzino special, veal parm, penne arribiata and my fave spaghetti carbonara. Everything was excellent and everyone was pleased with their dishes.
I love this place! It reminds me of the old school Italian restaurants my family would eat at in Brooklyn. Will be back soon. This place has turned into my go to comfort food spot.
This was the first restaurant we came to when restaurants were able to reopen in LA and have guests indoors (before the rules changed). We sat inside and felt very safe. The waiter went over all of the safety precautions they were taking and how they installed special UV lights to kill bacteria etc. Everyone was spaced out and all workers wore a mask as well as a face shield. Our service was amazing. The waiter we had was very attentive and gave us some great wine recommendations.
To start, we had the Mozzarella Marinara and Scampi A La Griglia. Mozzarella Marinara was amazing!! It is whole milk cheese that is deep friend and served with marinara sauce on top. A new version of mozzarella sticks that was so delicious. The Scampi was incredible. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing.
For mains, we ordered the Fettuccine Al Salmone and a Rigatoni dish I couldn't remember the name of. The rigatoni was great, but the fettuccine with salmon was very heavy and the fish did not taste fresh. I would not order again.
For dessert, we chose 2 desserts off of their dessert cart. The chocolate cake that we got was amazing! Definitely our favorite of the 2 we tried.
Hopefully we will be back again. I want to try the shrimp scampi pasta since the appetizer was so amazing! This is great place for quality food and amazing service.
