Allie's Vegan Pizzeria & Cafe

Outstanding! We had been to the "old" Allie's on the northside in the past and it was pretty good, but they have taken things up a notch at this new south hill location. To start, my wife is not a vegan like myself, but she very much enjoyed the food. We tried two dishes today, which were the wild mushroom pizza and the Smokehouse veggie burger with potato salad. The pizza was delicious, and the crust? Killer. It was not greasy, nor was any of the food, so if you are a follower of the advice of FOK/Campbell/Esselstyn or Fuhrman, you will appreciate that. Allie's makes their own vegan cheese products, which were great. I appreciated that they didn't try to make their pizza something it is not, like some cheese covered bomb. LOL The wild mushroom pizza had a nice amount of cooked mushrooms and some other goodies on it that were pretty darned good. I did add a touch of salt, because I still like a little bit of that at times, but even at that, it was a very tasty, satisfying dish. The Smokehouse burger was a revelation! Usually veggie burgers are fairly heavy and dense. These were much lighter and had either been smoked or cooked on a grill pan. Great flavor, very filling, and absolutely delicious. We shared the meal and both of us were impressed and inspired. I look forward to visiting more, even though we live 45 minutes away! It is worth the drive for us. Outfreakingstanding!
