Casita Taqueria is a locally owned fast-casual taqueria serving homemade artisan Mexican food specializing especially in tacos and burritos with three locations in St Petersburg, Florida. Founded in 2011 owners Don and Gwen Arvin have racked up one award after another from the Best of the Bay Best Tacos, Best Happy Hour, and were also recently listed as the 23rd best Mexican restaurant in the country by users of Foursquare. Casita Taqueria is hard to miss as you drive down the Disston Heights neighborhood of Central Avenue. You will pass by the orange painted square store space building with the iconic designed green and red skulled murals. The skull is only the beginning with the many paintings and various Day of the Dead decor that fills the restaurant.
I don't think you can go wrong with any choice on this menu of small street tacos. We particularly loved the carnitas and the chicken tinga.
In all cases, the corn tortillas were very fresh, the proteins succulent and well-seasoned but never salty, while the toppings were balanced and bright. We had fish tacos at several other beach joints during the week that featured cheddar cheese, which is much too heavy for the delicate flavor of fish, but at Casita, the proteins and add-ones were always in harmony.
Awesome tacos! For the price they might be pricey to some people's opinions but for the flavor, quality, freshness and authenticity of the food the price was on point. We can't during dinner hour on a Friday night and the service was fast and friendly! Would totally recommend and come back for sure when we're in town!!
Must-have, every time I'm in town! The food and atmosphere is great. I love the carne asada sandwich and the shrimp casita bowl, but there whole menu is delicious! Get there early for lunch, because the line can sometimes get a little long.
Very colourful spot on Central Ave with a great outdoor patio to enjoy your food on. Good choice of food and beverages to enjoy at very reasonable prices. Chicken Flautas were delicious
Happened upon this place visiting nearby Sunken Gardens. Upon entering we were greeted by two friendly staff who helped my mother and I with the menu patiently pointing out the different options as well as specials. My mom ordered their special soup of the day, a potato red pepper type, and we ordered a couple of their street tacos. The food is AMAZING and fresh. You can look back into the kitchen and see them making the tortillas fresh and pots of goodness all cooking.
I ended up going back for seconds ordering my own bowl of soup because it was so good. The staff came out to make sure everything was good. Check out their FB page cause they publish daily their specials.
Good, fresh mexican. I eat here occasionally for lunch and never disappoints. They have rotating taco specials and a solid list of menu items. Not especially "inexpensive" (tacos avg $3 each) but fresh and tasty ingredients.
Very friendly counter staff. Great job of remodeling an old gas station was done. Soft, homemade corn tortillas tacos were great.

We eat here all the time!. The food is fresh and inexpensive. But more to the point, it's delicious! They have a different special every day - so far I have not seen a repeat, and we go here at least once a week. The barbacoa is best, but I love everything I've tried. Barbacoa is like candied meat, though. So good! I have had one of the bowls (can't remember which meat I got) - the bowls are a real bargain. You get a lot of beans, rice and guacamole. It's very filling. The homemade sauces are incredible, especially the honey habanero. They serve sangria with cinnamon if you so desire. It sounded weird to me at first but I tried it. It adds sweetness without sugar, and now i never want sangria without it.
The staff are all very friendly and energetic. They are quick to bus your table. The decor is fun - lots of Day of the Dead artifacts and some great paintings. It has become our home away from home. Lucky for us, we live down the street!
The churros in honey and cinnamon are amazing ! Corn taco tortillas are fantastic . I love the outside picnic tables. Prices are very affordable . Will be back .
