This place has some of the best food and atmosphere I have experienced. Establishment dates back to the early 50's with décor to match. We sampled the hot and spicy smoked sausage, which was amazing, as well as the BBQ Friday special of 3 gigantic rib bones for $8.95. Served with cucumber salad (in house recipe) and a slice of white bread. I could only eat one of the ribs, they were that huge. My son had the fried chicken previously, available only on Saturday. We will make this a regular stop on our trips to St. Pete to visit our son!
Great Staff and Amazing food! Today was my first time there and I highly recommend this place to anyone that lives in the area or are thinking of visiting!
WOW! Didn't go because of the DDD reference, rather because of the Zomato reviews and they were spot on. Great atmosphere, and the service was friendly, fast and intuitive. The staff knew what I needed before I knew I needed it. Wife ordered a "side" of country ham that would have fed my family of 7 as a child back in Indiana (minus gravy of course). BLT- righteous, hashers-the bomb. Iced tea free flowing and the to go cup came as a matter of course. Don't sweat the southside address. You must go!
Let’s get one thing off the table, this place serves decent food. It’s not the best but it will leave you satisfied. The hash brown was awesome and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I wish there was a bit more flavor in the steak and gravy.
With a full house that morning, I’m surprised the service was as quick as it was. The experience was nice but it somehow fell slightly short for me.
Breakfast was great. What a good old southern hearty breakfast you would expect and a local place. I had the Edna's special which the server said was great for a hangover. Two eggs, sliced griddle ham, on a fresh made from scratch biscuit smothered in white sausage gravy or what they call SOS. Thought it was --it on a shingle from my fathers military years. The gravy was awesome and served the entire plate with home fries. Was so much good as I did not need to eat the rest of the day. Service was great and friendly and you knew the place was good when tons of locals are flocking to it. And they only accept cash there which further confirms that food speaks for itself when establishments still can carry that on.
At Munch's you will find a friendly owner and staff and classic comfort food in an old American diner setting. The fried green tomatoes are incredibly satisfying and make your mouth water for more. The catfish is very good and their grits are delicious as well but the real star here is the fried chicken. All of the different pieces of chicken whether white or dark meat were perfectly moist but incredibly crispy. The seasoning was also perfect and I could have gone back for more except the portions were so large that it just wasn't going to happen.
Fried green tomatoes and the munch burger combo are DELICIOUS!
Amazing! Totally off the beaten path, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives! The service was great! CASH ONLY, ATM inside..must go to! Sit at the counter...
FOOD FIND is how you describe a place like this one. Smoke barbecue ribs on, Fridays only, rank up with the best we have had in Kansas City. The Ribs are just that good. Very meaty spareribs with the tips on, long bones. Do yourself a favor and go here. Prices are affordable. I would suggest avoiding the rush hours.
Atmosphere is old-time and will set you back to the 50' n 60' era. Counter stools, table and chairs and booths of yester years goneby.
Meatloaf dinner, tasty not fatty or greasy.
Texas Hash , and creamed chipped beef, we're Seen on diner drive-ins and dives. I suggest trying all the above.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND *****
Most excellent. If you've never been to Munches before, you must live far from, or never visited the Tampa Bay area. This place is an institution! I have eaten there a number of times, and no matter what I ordered, it was pure quality. What can I say, great burgers, shakes, bbq, breakfast, open-faced sandwiches, soups, etc, etc, etc.
This place is a must with a great atmosphere!
Great Diner-Style breakfast. Big Con: Cash only.
Big Pro: The food is very good, hearty, heavy and tasty.
Not the best place to go if you're really counting calories and are very health-conscious. Depending on when you go, parking can be limited. Seating is plentiful and the staff are friendly. one of St. Pete's old gems.
We just left this wonderful place. We tried to make it for breakfast but got side tracked. We had lunch and it was GREAT! BBQ ribs were the special, Bob Loved them, I had the burger and it was very tasty. The owner was very friendly and down to earth. His wife stopped by and of course she was great too. Our waitress great. It reminds me of "The good ole days" try it you'll love it! ;-)
