Went in for a special treat.... cupcakes are amazing. Love having a local bakery that also has gluten free options. Friendly staff. A must when in downtown St Pete.

Think I won the bakery lotto! Such an awesome find :) The croissants deserve an Emmy, not exaggerating, the flavors amazing, beautiful lamination, nice balanced ingredients and you get a massive one the size of your head for a reasonable price. I usually get two servings out of one. The minus here were the perfect cake, frosting and topping ratio. Tried the white cake with raspberry with chocolate and its my fav! The lemon one was good too! The coffee is fantastic should you enjoy black coffee or a flavored latte. You cannot come here and buy only one thing, it's all beyond amazing. The customer service is exceptional and fast! The sit down area is cute and cozy, plenty of seating space too. All in all 10/10, we'll be coming back! 😁

Loved our wedding cake! Gave them one picture to go on and they duplicated it perfectly! The taste was amazing (lemon cake with raspberry filling) and everyone complemented us on the choice we made. We also did cookies and cannolis along with our wedding cake. Highly recommend for all of your bakery needs! Great pricing, helpful staff, great quality food and beverages all around! Thank you for being a part of our special day!

Southern Bay was reasonably priced and the most delicious of bakeries that I tried in all of Saint Petersburg and the only one I will give a review to. Their croissants are off the charts and once you have them you too will be addicted. Great Bakery.

A friend told me about this place, and how it was sort of a hidden gem. It is a very nice bakery, and had a very friendly vibe when I walked in the door. The gentleman that helped me was very friendly, and smiled through his mask. There were patrons that seemed to enjoy hanging out and starting their morning. I came on a Sunday so I don't think there was as much selection as there might be during the week, so I will be back. I picked up some tasty coconut macaroons and a blueberry scone for testing. Both were fantastic.

An outstanding, locally owned bakey with the best swret treats. The space is beautiful, clean, and inviting with the nicest attendants. A wonderful find and many return visits for sure.

Simply fabulous bakery hidden away on 4th Street! Southern Bay Bakery took over what used to be Coldstone (many moons ago) in the Sunken Gardens Plaza on 4th Street. I found them on Google looking for a bakery that would have last minute desserts ready to go. I was a little last minute for my husband's birthday, but this place did not disappoint. I definitely splurged on a handful of items. So many things looked so good and rather than making a tough decision I selected them all! I ordered - tiramisu, Bailey's tiramisu, brownie with blondie topping, and a red velvet cupcake. Then, as I headed to check out, I saw croissants with all different fillings and selected the Bacon/Brie/Honey croissant and the Cuban Croissant. The tiramisu looked traditional, but it isn't really traditional and this one is even better. There are no ladyfingers, but all the same flavor is there. The cake is wonderfully moist and the rich amaretto flavor comes out. The filling is just perfect. My husband said it was the best tiramisu he's ever had. The Bailey's tiramisu has this beautiful marshmallow topping which makes it really fun. The Bailey's soaked into the cake and made it very rich. The filling has a nice consistency and almost seems more custardy. Definitely an "A" for this one. My husband and I both love brownies. The brownie with blondie topping was so rich and fudgy. I had a nice butterscothy-type taste to the topping. We couldn't eat all of it as it was so rich, but I imagine a cold glass of milk would be a perfect balance to this. Very indulgent and rich. The red velvet cupcake was just everything you want a red velvet cupcake to be. Keep in mind, Southern Bay Bakery has mini cupcakes, normal sized cupcakes, and jumbo cupcakes. This is the normal sized cupcake (I had to exercise restraint somewhere). The red velvet cake was soft and not too crumbly. The cream cheese frosting was not too sweet and was beautifully decorated with some holly leaves for the holidays. The bites were light and luscious and just what you want from red velvet. Finally, the croissants. The Bacon/Brie/Honey croissant was not as sweet as I thought I would be. I was a little concerned the honey would be too much and overpower everything. I was wrong. It didn't. Every now and then I got a little bite of sweetness, but matched with the bacon, it was just right. Let me tell you, unless you are starving, it will be difficult to finish an entire one by yourself. Trust me - the croissant is rich and buttery. The fillings are plentiful. All of it is so delectable. But your eyes will be bigger than your stomach. That's ok, save it for later or seconds. The Cuban Croissant was filled with pork, ham, swiss, pickle, and a touch of mustard. I don't care for mustard, but I was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't really tell there was any in there. It could have been dijon mustard or just a light coating of yellow mustard, but the star here was definitely the pork. Great seasoning and flavor in the meat. It was such a fun take to have a croissant filled with Cuban sandwich ingredients. Since I took this home for the next day, a few minutes in the toaster oven brought these 100% back to life. You need to go here, support local, and try out these remarkable items.

Excellent experience from start to finish! The cake was the most beautiful i've ever seen. It was reasonably priced, especially for all the detail involved. Everyone was friendly and listened to what we wanted. My daughter and our friends and family were in awe. It even tasted great! I will definitely be ordering from here again.
