GREAT ADDITION TO ST. PETE! Recently ate here with my wife and another couple. I recommend grabbing a spot in by the docks with the beach. We took our sandals off and snagged a table and staff was right over. Ordered drinks and the server was laid by and knew the menu well. Reggae music playing. Sand at or feet. Good food. We all had the grouper sandwich and we all were happy. Fried pickles pretty darn tasty. Will be back.
Wow! We finally made it to the new restaurant and we love it!! It's absolutely beautiful, the prices are exactly what we expected, and the food was amazing! We had great service both times we went during our vacation. For example, my daughter spilled her lemonade, and as a mom, it was one of the moments you dread. It was everywhere. Sticky and messy, and all over the table and beautiful tile floor. I asked for some rags to clean it up and our server instead helped us move tables and she insisted she would clean everything. I tried to dry it up and she stopped me and made sure my kiddo was ok, and told us she had it and we just needed to enjoy our lunch. If I could give more stars, I would. That was 10 star service for sure!
I was looking for a spicy burger and boy did I get myself an awesome plate! Definitely recommend especially if you can come by boat. Views are great, food is great, service is lovely.
Great renovation with outdoor seating in south St. Pete. Beautiful granite bartop. Dogs ok. Tiny sand area for dining at seawall and view of maina.
The Getaway is a nice addition to South St. Pete, at the south edge of Maximo Marina. We visited on a Thursday afternoon in early July, and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has two distinct areas: the main building and the tiki bar. The tiki bar sits at the edge of the water, so catches the breeze on a steamy day, and appears to be a popular gathering spot. The main restaurant/bar flows seamlessly from indoor to outdoor, as Florida living should be. We sat outdoors, pleasantly surprised at the amount of shade available and the comfortable temperature.
Grouper sandwiches were our choice that day. They offer remoulade vs the standard tartar sauce, a nice addition that complements the flavor of the fish. The batter wasn't overly heavy and the fish was cooked perfectly, making the sandwich quite acceptable. Their Island Slaw was delightful--the usual cabbage given a lift with diced mango and red pepper, and Sriracha providing a little zing.
Be aware that while the address is on 50th St, the entry is not. If driving, you'll find the entry to the parking lot just north of the little traffic circle.
The place is new and the staff are still learning the ropes, most evident in their lack of product knowledge. Nevertheless, they were responsive and eager to please. I'll give it 4 stars today and go back again.
Amazing food and drinks. Great bartenders and servers. Beautiful waterfront view of the marina. Sand and Adirondack chairs for that beach feel.
